The Lynx beat Dallas 80-63 tonight to move to 7-0 on the season. All 5 Lynx starters scored in double figures. Maya had a so-so game by her standards: 13 points on 6-14 shooting. She added 4 boards, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.
In the middle of the 4th quarter, Minnesota was trying to get separation on pesky Dallas. They got a deflection or defensive rebound that led to a long pass and a fast-break layup. On the next play, Maya snuck in, stole the inbounds pass, and made a layup. The announcers never saw it or mentioned it. But Minnesota got 4 points in under 4 seconds. Typical Maya Moore play.
A couple of minutes later, Dallas had a fast break situation, and Kiesel shot an open baseline jumper. Well, it was open until a steaking and leaping Maya Moore deflected the ball out of bounds. Typical Maya Moore play.
Minnesota is now 3-0 at home. The announcers said that it is tough for opponents to win on that floor. Since 2011, the Lynx have won 82% of their home games. In case anyone forgot, 2011 was the year that Maya arrived in Minnesota. Over her 4-year career, Maya's UConn teams won 100% of their games in the State of Connecticut.
