Maya put on a show Wed here in Valencia......

and Mom has moved with her to this land of palm trees... I was shocked tickets were 3 Euros $4? and i was in the front row sideline-- and the crowd was maybe 1200-1500.... last season they GAVE tickets for free and no one came... Maya looks good in her 23 blue and white uni... Diana was hacked and hacked and no call... like American football.....she asked ref in english, right in front of me, "are you being paid??'" After game i asked him if he understood, he said yes, but is from Slovenia- 2 women refs and he ran out of arena for game next night..in...Canary Islands....I told Valencia team rep woud have had 8000-10000 for this game in Conn.. she said can hardly give tickets away... next game Sat nite Val- vs Zaragoza i think.... PS they even moved up game time Wed nite 8 PM to 645 PM due to mens soccer Valencia -Barcelona semifilal of Kings Cup... right in town!,,.. glad i checkcd my email or would have been late... teams walk right front, Diana and Maya availabe to sign... before game-- after game little more crowded-

I think the Tebow mania is pretty crazy on both sides - I wouldn't have a rooting interest in him either way except for one thing: I LOVE A QUARTERBACK WHO PUTS HIS HEAD DOWN AND RUNS OVER PEOPLE!!!!! They are a nearly extinct species especially at the pro level (for good reason....ouch)

Plus I kinda like how when he wins, the talking heads keep having to eat their words. That is fun to see. But I don't feel the 'hurt' when he does badly. I just like watching him run north/south.

Yeah I saw that - I also went back and checked to see when Ros's one loss was - it happened last fall before Maya got there. Anyway, in that game, LJ played only 10 mins I think? I just remember it being very short minutes, and not much production. I think she is continuing on what is a long and gradual recovery before she is really 100%. And/or she is really pacing herself and doing limited mins/game on purpose, to minimize any possibilities of relapse so that her Olympics are not at risk. Or something like that .

I think the teams make money from sponsorships...or they have rich owners who do it as a vanity thing. A lot of sports teams in Spain don't make money, there was a big story about some men's soccer team this season that hadn't been paid in a few years.

This has been the general impression I've gotten over the years when reading accounts from UCONN alums in the Russian&Euroleagues - but I'm sure some 'Yarders have more detailed info on the subject
