I don't work as a sportscaster so maybe I'm missing something, but how does Maryland's just standing in a 2-3 zone while all 5 UNC players stand on the perimeter qualify as "playing lockdown defense"?

I'm not seeing anything particularly scary about UNC. There's a lot of standing around on offense and disorganization on defense.

36-30 Maryland at the half. Neither team looks like a world beater and, no, I'm not going to credit the defenses for the ugliness of the game because I'm not seiing much D from either team. UNC stands around hoping someone is free to make a shot while the MD players run willy-nilly into the paint into the 5 UNC players clustered under the basket and either passes the ball to the WIDE OPEN shooter or gets fouled.

i watched Maryland win a close one the other day against Ga Tech. if Maryland is the #5 team in the country, i want them as the 2 seed in our bracket. these kids are completely gassed and it's not even a fast paced game...

having said that, i'm really interested to see how UNC does against UCONN. it's easy to sit back as a game takes on a personality and be critical, but fortunately we play UNC so there will be some easier direct comparison...

At first I didn't recognize Ruffin-Pratt. She's lost a lot of weight.

wow. how does UNC take a shot and have 2 kids under the basket for the board with no one boxing them out? they had the position the Maryland defense should have had...

2 things are standing out to me. first, Shay Chegog NEVER passes it out of the post. even with the most impossible shot, she will try to draw the foul. second, watching Maryland dribble the ball around, then pick it up only to have it tied up or turned over makes me understand why UCONN passes so crisply on the perimeter on offense.

I wish there was a way both teams could lose this game:rolleyes:
