- Diarra opens the scoring with a three.
- Timeout at 16:24 with the good guys leading 14-4 thanks mostly to being 4 for 4 from three. After Diarra's three to open the game, Stewart hit 3 threes in a row. But that 9 points would prove to be his only points of the night.
- Solo gets involved in the early 3 point onslaught with a corner three at 12:27.
- Refs doing their best to keep Marquette in the game midway through the half. 4 fouls -- all shooting fouls -- on UConn, none on Marquette. Luckily, they seem to only make one of every pair so far.
- 8:35, we finally get a pair of foul shots. Samson makes 'em both.
- AK's free throws at 3.34 make it a 20 point margin -- 40-20.
- Got kind of sketchy last few minutes of the half, and the lead was down to 13 at the half.
- Half time stats... Shooting percentage breakdown.. UConn 56,50,100 to Marquette 32,30,50 at the half. Boards 22-11, dimes 9-1, blocks 4-1. Johnson, Reed and Diarra with 2 fouls each, Mahaney has 3. Marquette has attempted 20 FTs to our 8. They are 10 of 20, we are 8 of 8.
- Johnson draws first blood in 2nd half.
- Our passing into the interior sucks tonight. Responsible for half our turnovers.
- One screw-up after another, and the lead is down to 9 at 16:50
- Back up to 14 a minute later
- Finally missed a FT. Reed missed both, then got a bogus foul call at the other end. Lead back down to 9.
- Just when I'm starting to think Mahaney's doing a good job at the backup point, he commits 2 turnovers in a row.
- I wonder if we've ever won a game before where we had 25 turnovers.
- Speaking of wondering, when was the last time you saw a team have nearly twice (15) as many boards at the offensive end as at the defensive (8) end? Marquette did that last night.
- While Alex's three still wasn't falling (1 for 4) he was still the 2nd most productive Husky on the floor last night, putting up a dozen more points on FTs and 2 pointers, while also collecting 4 boards, 3 dimes, 2 steals and two blocks.
- Solo is the obvious choice for POG with 25 points and 10 boards. No other player on either team had more than 5 boards. He also did a respectable job bringing the ball up court a number of times. He went 7 of 9 from deep, plus 4 foul shots, but he missed both his layup attempts.
- The announcing team was unlistenable, so from about 6 minutes in, I watched with the sound off.
