Great game. Girls shot lights out from three. I don’t get kara wolters emphasizing how important it is to hold your follow-thru on threes. The ball is gone, how is holding your follow-thru going to help the ball go in? I was taught to follow my shots.

There were no 3 point shots when you and I played. The follow through helps, because of the distance, also, if someone is trying to block your shot, chance of getting fouled.

Speaking of form:

I was amused that the form of Paige's long range bomb ...
Looked exactly the same as Caitlin's
Body sort of fades to the left (or is it right) as you heave it up.

What's the expression..."great minds....?"

She was POY and was tutored by the finest coach in the game. I’m inclined to believe her.

I thought it was to ensure you get the right rotation on the ball...

It's to ensure all of the above. She didn't mean hold your pose like MJ did in that famous shot to win the NBA championship. She meant to finish the shot completely with the broken wrist position ( watch Ash) to ensure rotation( when it has back spin and hits the rim it has a greater chance of dying there and dropping in as in foul shots). It also ensures the direction of the ball.

Like with anything it’s repetition to properly train and be consistent with your form and technique. I was a soccer player mainly(goalkeeper) and coaches mentioned this all the time on drills. Simply just catching the ball when it’s delivered right to you, hold the ball and pose. Your arms are out, your hands make a W, keep your body behind the ball, keep your body language forward. I played basketball too but mainly I was a good defensive guard and slasher. Never was a confident shooter and since it wasn’t my main sport I never worked on my offense that much outside of practice. If you’re flicking your wrist different, it’s coming off your fingers differently, your form is inconsistent, these things won’t make you a good shooter. You can probably get by if you’ve got a knack for just playing the game but these were things I noticed about myself. It’s your alignment and where your hand is positioned when you let go of the ball, did you get good rotation and arc? Maybe if you notice something you can adjust.
If you want to be great you hone that thing and make sure it’s right every time, in practice and in games. Following your shot is important to some degree but watch these games and see how these girls don’t follow their shots at all, they start moving backwards on D usually. That’s what you have teammates for. Shooting and immediately following you shot is a bit outdated
