So first off... I LOVE the new logo! Thinking I could log on and purchase something I scoured the internet to no avail. We knew we were launching the logo this week. Once it leaked, all outlets should have had available merchandise to sell. I love my University, just wish they would get stuff like this correct!

To be fair, they weren't planning on unveiling it until the 18th.

This re-branding and the demise of HuskyWear.com are too close together. I hope Scott Yeager returns with the company and a new line of re-logoed merchandise.

Didn't the leak occur a week early due to a retail outlet uploading shirt designs?

I suspect that you'll see lots of UCONN stuff. A few items with Donald. But those will be phased out pretty quickly...or tossed in the discount bin.

Regardless of hwether you like or hate or are neutral on the new logo, you have to admit that it has been handled in extremely amateurish fashion by the folks at UConn. They looked foolish with the leaks. Then rushed out the release of Donald. Now they have no items to market him. Let's hope they do a better job on some other initiatives. I hope the same people aren't in charge of the medical School expansion or that hospital will be built without doors.

Sort of - there is actually an internet site devoted to sports logos. Someone on that site was digging around the internals of an apparel dealer's website and discovered the new art. They're not looking for UConn stuff, specifically, but for new logo designs. (How is that interesting?!)

UConn and Nike were looking to unveil it this week and then start selling the merchandise at the end of the month - unfortunately, much to the chagrin of the two nitwits at the tip of this thread, it's not particularly easy to advance a supply chain by two weeks just because someone outed a logo early.

Cal didn't get its new logo outed early. Oregon State's wasn't outed 2 weeks early. And while you're right you can't necessarily be set up to sell the new merchandise 2 weeks early, I suspect the nitwits weren't only on this thread...there were some in Storrs and Beaverton too.

And as we see from the leak, getting the art work to the people making the merchandise can lead to leaks. So people complain stuff isn't ready and think the leaks show incompetence. Can't have it both ways.

You take being wrong and make it into an art form.

You are, literally, wrong. About both.
Usually when one makes such a statement it is backed up with evidence. But of course that would be counter to your preferred mode of operation.

I remember Louisville's then new, "tougher" logo being mocked pretty badly on PTI. Didn't seem to hurt them.
