I have become convinced the the Sox owners have a chance to move the franchise to Florida if they can just lose enough games to allow them to void a contract that they have with the city of Boston. Therefore they have ordered John Farrell to field a team that has little chance to win. That would explain why John faithfully plays Will Middlebrooks and Jackie Bradley Jr. everyday.

Will, the better hitter of the two, is hitting a robust .148 over his last 24 games with no home runs 6 RBI while striking out 26 times with just 7 walks.

Meanwhile Jackie has 5 hits in his last 56 AB for an average of .089. He has no home runs and has driven in one run. He has struck out 25 times and has walked twice. Jackie can go get them, though.

If we only had Willy Mays Hayes.

Amazing the gap between how well Bradley hit in the minors and how lost he appears in the bigs....hopefully he figures it out because as you say he can play the field.

Think they may move Middlebrooks in the offseason...

I guess they want to get a good look at 32 year-old Kelly Johnson who is hitting .207 in his last 10 games with no home runs, and 27 year-old Dan Butler who has no hits so far in his ML career and was hitting a rousing .227 at Pawtucket before he was brought up. It is amazing the lineups that they are running out there these days. In the meantime, 21-year-old Mookie Betts, who can play anywhere but catcher (so far), is hitting .346 at Pawtucket and Portland with an OPS of .960 and 33 stolen bases. Well, whoever wants them to lose is getting their wish as they just dropped 2 out of 4 at home to the third worse team in all of baseball.
