Opening with an FCS team. Possible P5 invitation in the balance.
-Take no prisoners, show no mercy.
-Hang 60 on the Black Bears.
-Newsome & Johnson each must have 200 yards rushing in 30 minutes of action
-No time to waste. This is business. Set the tone for the season.

No, I'm at work. Reminiscing about when Terry Caulley burst onto the scene & UConn hung a couple of 60 spots on the opposition at Memorial Stadium. It was the portent of things to come in the FHCRE tenure. I'd like to think that after 2 years of preparation & with an upper classman laden team, Coach Diaco can have the same type of success. Color me an optimist.

I see a little Terry Caulley in Arkeel Newsome.. keep those legs churning.. keep moving forward... Here's hoping Newsome breaks out in game 1, in a big way...

I do agree with coachcap on one thing. This better be a blow out... Maine is in kinda rebuild mode, at the FCS level.. They have talent, but our size up front alone should really kick in for this game..

I'm looking for a victory by 4 or 5 scores (TDs mainly with a FG, possibly 2 sprinkled in)

Well the acc took a hideous academic school over us, Rutgers of all schools got a miracle invite and and the Big 12 is going to video conference 17 teams so why would u be surprised? Crazy crap happens during expansion season

Agree... it feels like ages since we handled an FCS team like an FCS team.

I'm looking forward to seeing the walk-ons in the 4th.
 
I don't see us with an explosive offense. It's not how we're built. Defense should dominate and we should be able to run the offense effectively. I see something like 28 or 31 to 10. Folks will be disappointed with that, but it would be progress.

Eh. We scored 25 on a decent Villanova team with our QB seeing his first game action in ages. Nova would smoke Maine, so I'm hoping we can hang at least 30 on em

Just win comfortably with no injuries. UCONN's Offense is not built around scoring a ton of points. It would be out of character to try to blow the doors off of someone even if its Maine. I'd say its far more important for realignment purposes if 40,000 fans are in the stands rooting on the team, then the team winning 52-13 instead of 31-10.

Probably the Oklahoma Houston game means a bit more in week 1. We need to make a statement against Navy in week 2 and get to 2-0.
