Minnesota is 8-0; Tulsa is 0-7. Tulsa leads, 21-17 late in the first. The Lynx need to play some defense,

Meanwhile, Seattle is playing for the Britney Griner sweepstakes, trailing San Antonio 23-10 late in the first.

Seattle is shooting 25%, San Antonio is hitting 82%. Yikes!

Saw San Antonio on tv the other night against Atlanta. The Dream pulled it out but I was more impressed with SA. I feel like if they stay healthy and gel a bit they could be a really good team. Becky Hammon, DRob, Danielle Adams, Sophia Young, Appel!

As far as BG goes, could you imagine her in the paint with Lauren Jackson and Sue Bird running the show! WoW!

Maya is having a great game! 26 pts late in the 4th; 5 from 8 from beyond the arc.

There is always some sort of problems with Liveaccess.... the play be play is a few seconds delayed from the video feed. Very annoying!

Maya finishes as the leading scorer with 26. Lynx win by 20.

Maya was a big part of the record-setting 90-0 UConn streak. Now she's a big part of a record-tying 9-0 Lynx streak. Maya knows winning.

Yep, Maya with 26 and she is not satisfied...missed 3 lay-ups, etc...what else is new. There isn't any ceiling with Maya...it is going to be exciting watching her career unfold.

I like Young and Adams, but don't they have anyone else besides Appel? she's averaging what - 3-4 points per game in her WNBA career? Talk about a player who peaked in college... i think Jess Moore could do better with 15-20 minutes per game...

Appel has been alright this season. She looks like she is finally healthy. At least playing well enough to force Adams out of the starting lineup and back to the bench. She's been doing her job, and doing her job often doesn't result in more than 4 points per game given the makeup of her team. And what she does is more than what Jess is capable of.

I don't think that's necessarily fair to Appel and her role on the team. I think when you have Becky Hammon, Sophia Young, and other capable scorers, Appel isn't going to be looking for her shot. She's only taken 13 shots in six games and made seven of them. So she's making her shots when she sees an opportunity, but I suspect her role on the team is to play good defense and to rebound. If she weren't doing well offensively, you'd see her shooting percentage be much lower. This suggests to me that the coaching staff doesn't want her shooting.

Lynx now have a 5-day break.

Seimone will get a chance to rest some more and heal that gimpy quad while the rest of the team can take a breather before getting back to practice in Minny.

Taj is still playing too many minutes. The Olympic break will help Taj immensely but Adair still needs to bring more consistency so that Reeve can reduce Taj's minutes in the second half of the season. Adair really came on strong in the second half of last year, but she hasn't been quite as sharp game in, game out so far this season, IMHO. I really like her game and her upside tho.

Amber Harris lost some valuable time with the ankle. Hopefully over the next month she will get back to 100% physically and start to log a few more minutes as well. Dev Peters is still fouling too much but I like what I am seeing and she is definitely improving at a good rate.

Minny's guards and wings continue to play at a high level. Whelan's scoring output has dropped but Monica Wright's has increased, while everyone else (Seimone, Maya, Wiggs) is doing a great job. Erin Thorn looks like a pretty decent back-up and could be better by the time the playoffs come around. Brunson does not have the gaudy rebounding stats to match last year's first half, but she is still a force to be reckoned with. Like Taj, she seems to have added a bit more range to her jumper this year.

To me the keys to Minny getting another championship are the inside players, especially the bench: Adair, Amber and Dev. The Sparks will be adding Anosike for the stretch run, Parker looks healthy and Nneka may be a star in the making. Not to mention Lavender, who doesn't have to be great with so much interior talent there already. And where once opponents were happy to allow Toliver as many jumpers as she liked, she appears to have turned the corner and is now a real threat.

It will be interesting to see how Minny performs coming out of this week's break. If they are really a championship caliber team again this year, they should emerge a bit sharper and with a better killer instinct for the full 40 mins in games, rather than allowing teams back in games after going up 20 or 25 points.

Dev Peters is working out very well with the Lynx, Adair and Harris need to match what she's been bringing in the post.
