wow nice pickup
15 schools is an unconventional number for scheduling tho.

I guess they could go to a 3 division setup and 18 conf games

Yeah, let the ACC know. Maybe they anticipate Temple coming back.

HUGE boon for A-10!

The MVC will be alright: Belmont joining helps soften the blow. Drake is now the MVC king.

I would think St. Louis is happy to see another midwest school in the A10. In the past I had the thought St. Louis might be a better fit in the MVC, primarily to cut down on travel expenses. So much for that thought, with Wichita State and Creighton also having left the Valley in recent years.

If I had to guess, Loyola is looking to upgrade conferences in fear of a future reorganization splitting the top of D1 from the low majors. A10 maybe a safer harbor.

They are angling for a Big East invite in the not so distant future.

The A-10 is very similar to the Big East, mostly private with George Mason, UMass, URI, and VCU the publics. It'll be 26 basketball programs between the two basketball conferences. I still see Temple as living in no man's land. In both basketball and football, it's like a south park episode:

You get a burst of success and you can make a move…
absolutely true

ONE or TWO good years and you are targeted for the upgrade; and the reverse is true ... a few down or mediocre at the wrong time and you are passed over

Maybe if we traded DePaul for Loyola but I doubt we have two schools from Chicago.

We have a simalar situation with Dayton & Xavier.
Temple &Nova .
even VCU & Georgetown
These schools would kill to get into the Big East
the A10 contract is $4,500,000 per year divided 14 ways
The most interesting thing in the article is Loyola fears the top conferences will be separating from the rest
besides the P5
Big East
AAC
MW. ?
A10. ?
who makes the cut?

The Big East would be much stronger with a strong DePaul. Wish they would figure it out.

they looked good the other night ... and Mike Anderson, despite the cultural mismatch, had St John's playing. They have the opportunity.

The A-10 interestingly allows schools to keep more of their earned tournament credits, rather than splitting them equally.

Would be nice if this happened and Temple ended up independent. Give everyone three late season games a year in the northeast and make independent schedules much easier to build. Unfortunately.. I can't see anyway the money works out at least given the current rumors on the AAC's unbalanced payouts.
