Louisville led Notre Dame by 45 - 4 and led by 54 - 15 at the half...but then Notre Dame came back and lost by a much more respectable 86 - 64. Notre dame actually one both quarters in the second half. If that had happened to the Huskies, I think people here would be prediction doomsday. A joke, kinda. but I think the ability of the Huskies to play hard for all 4 quarters of a blowout and to almost always beat the teams they are supposed to beat is pretty special.

Yes indeed, quite quiet.

I think after the Miles incident and because the refs actually tried to ignore what happened (after all the game was in South Bend) because of the score, Jeff was playing out the second half and hoping none of his players got hurt.

If they exist (I’ve never ventured). I have to imagine that ND women’s basketball has a forum similar to our own Barnyard on which their fans can post. If so, ND fans being who they traditionally are, I’d be willing to wager that the commentary, notwithstanding the embarrassing magnitude of the beatdown, is largely focused on how the refs “screwed” em!

You may be right. I was thinking more of the Louisville equivalent to this forum, where I imagine the fans are pretty happy with the win—whereas, I suspect, if Uconn had done something similar, fans here would be obsessing about the lost quarters in the second half.

My impression from watching the game is that Louisville tried to run clock and took their foot off the gas a bit in the second half...

That is absolutely what happened. I was among the 50 or so Louisville fans at the game and had a clear view of the Louisville bench. Walz and his staff were on cruise control. On the post-game radio show Associate Head Coach Steph Norman pretty much said the same thing.

No worries from the Louisville fandom about winning by 22 instead of 40.

After Miles scored on a layup, she turned into her defender and "nudged" her. The Louisville player pushed Miles away and Miles pushed the Louisville player back. A small skirmish ensued with nothing really happening except Van Lith and Mabry exchanging words. The refs reviewed the play but the the only thing I heard the announcers say was Mabry (and possibly Van Lith) were assessed a foul for "taunting".

And in spite of that, ND still had less than 1/2 the fouls of UL. Just pathetic.

Oh, OK. I imagine ND was a bit cranky in the midst of that. Glad it didn't get worse.

Miles said something first and then the pushing started. Two players on each team were called for fouls.
Probably not a great idea to be woofing when you're down 38.
