At what point do 85 young men look in the mirror and take some frigging pride in themselves?
There are still many that do - but you could see the issues with some of the players from that picture of them turning their backs on their coach. Many here claimed it was taken out of context or a misunderstanding.

I am not calling out individual players - just watch the games. It’s pretty obvious who still is giving 100% effort and who has mailed it in.

This is the problem with firing a coach two games into the season. I'm not for a moment saying Edsall didn't deserve to be fired. He certainly did. I said the morning after Holy Cross but before he "quit" that he was dead man walking and knew he wouldn't be back. But playing 5/6ths of a season without anything other than an interim coach is going to lose many of the players and many of the recruits. That's just the reality of the situation. And again, I'm not saying it was the wrong decision.

Hiring Randy Edsall a second time WAS THE BAD DECISION.

Firing Edsall two games into the season is not why the kids aren’t playing with grit ( looks like quitting ) but these kids haven’t been playing with grit since the season began. We’ve been getting pretty much punched in the face all season since game one with rarely any response. When Mazzone got here changes were made and things looked different offensively. Now the defense is another story, all but one or two ain’t really doing much. The kids are not responding to Spanos wether they like him or not I just don’t see much on defense. Opponents are pretty much passing and running all over our defense, Holy Cross and UMass are on that list of opponents and that’s sad. Kids respond to really good coaches.

My question is why did no one on the sideline look like they even gave a crap about how the game was going. Saw no emotion from this team. I was more pissed and had more emotion on my couch at home. There is a true lack of give a on the sideline. We need 80 Brian Keatings! And I know…all the coaching BS and covid BS didn’t help. But where’s the emotion. Where’s the will to win? Where’s the fire? Hopefully the new coach will bring that with him. Cause these kids are flat…when injuries and setbacks happen we need more fire. No poor me! Jesus! Rant over!

We showed some fight and grit when Puma finally got it going midway through the Army blowout (even though it was against Army's backups). Then we showed a ton of grit for the Wyoming game, and the Vandy game despite Puma's injury (Steven Krajewski played well that game, and we all felt confident about him going forward). Despite two close disappointing losses, we all felt like we'd be okay.

For UMass, Nate Carter was the only bright spot (other than an early TD pass from Steven Krajewski to Marion). The rest of the team looked flat, and it got way worse as the game progressed. It was UMass making all the plays and UConn shooting themselves in the foot. Their sideline was lifeless. I think not having Spanos and the other personnel affected with COVID made a significant difference on the team's psyche, especially as the game wore on.

This team might just be drained. Too much bad luck, too much bad play, the coaching changes, the QB changes, the injuries, all that bad karma & uncertainty might be taking its toll.

I can't make the Yale game this weekend but I certainly hope that Spanos can get this team regrouped and put together a good enough effort to win. This team sorely needs a win. Against anyone.

Enough of the excuses. Enough of blaming everyone single person associated with U for the past 10 years other than Jonathan the husky. You’re not playing for the AD, the coach, the BY, etc. - take some responsibility, have some pride. Man up.
