Mountain West teams have lost 21 straight non-conference games against FBS teams. Twenty one!

Yet Boise will still end up in the access game.

I think they should rethink the access game process for the G5 leagues. Perhaps it should go to the champ of the G5 league with the highest RPI or something. MWC looks dreadful now that TCU, BYU and Utah found greener pastures. Boise is like a p5 team playing in an FCS league.

Whoa whoa whoa, Air Force would kick most of the American in the arse

The pool for the access bid already looks pretty narrow. Boise, Temple, Houston, Memphis, Navy, Ohio, UNI, Toledo... bout it.

Gotta figure the 4 from the American would beat themselves out of it. Sorta forgot about Air Force, but they'd be in the mix with the other 4 from this league. San Diego State is sometimes decent and I always like Utah State, but Wyoming, New Mexico etc., are just bad.

It's not automatic is it? Doesn't the G5 have to have a minimum ranking in the poles?

Utah State got torn apart by a rebuilding Washington Huskies program. Nothing to see there.

It goes to the highest ranked conf champion in the playoff poll. Don't think I've ever seen what happens if no conf champion is in their poll.

Did Washington get kicked out of the Pac12 or does Boise's win over them in week 1 not count?

Oh, and CSU beat Colorado and BC last year - which games are we (not) counting?

I don't see much MWC football, so maybe the conference is weak. But taking a shot at Boise after what they've done over the years, seems odd, to say the least.

That was the last FBS OOC game the conference won.

It's 21 in a row FBS.... not P5.

It's a shot at the 11 other MWC schools. Boise has a cakewalk the rest of the way.

I didn't forget about Air Force. They already lost their QB and I don't think they are going on the road and beating Navy in two Saturdays.

BYU had about 3 chances to put away a very good UCLA team Saturday night. That loss could haunt the Cougars at year end.

BYU isn't eligible for the G5 invite are they?

I believe they are.

They are not a P5 conference member, nor named Notre Dame.

They aren't. They are only eligible as an at-large same as Army and Notre Dame.

I think BYU is as good as any team in the country outside of the top 5-8 or so. They dropped way too far for losing a squeaker at UCLA. If we're going to applaud Oregon for losing at Michigan St, then the same courtesy should be extended to BYU for losing at UCLA.

My guess is that if a G5 team doesn't get a baseline amount of hype at the beginning of the season - and usually it will be only 1-2 teams like Boise getting that publicity - then it will be very hard for anyone to play their way into the playoff conversation, unless they go undefeated and manage to schedule and beat a big name , highly ranked team late in the season.

Off this list, I'd probably rank 'em:

1. Navy
2. UNI
3. Temple
4. Memphis
5. Boise (?)
6. Houston

Nevada will win the MWC this year. No need to worry about Boise.
