I loved the remark when Geno was leaving the podium, "See, I could be nice". Typical Geno. I love the credit he gave the Notre Dame program and rightfully so. They are quite similar to UConn, maybe a shade below but I do love the way they play the game. If all women's basketball was played in a similar fashion, it would be so much bigger than it is now.

A shade better sounds good. Even a penumbra better will be welcome on Tuesday.

Freese kept mentioning the bad calls on Jones as a factor in the loss...give me a break...

Does anyone have a link to the post game press conference? I missed the live session.

People just refuse to see the obvious. How many times will it be asked, Coach what sets UConn apart from other programs?

We get some of the good players

We work harder than you from the first practice

We never gloss over the little things - we work on them till they are like breathing

We use a disciplined approach in all aspects of our season

We rejoice in our teammates accomplishments, large or small and promote a family/team environment

We do not use magic

Annoyed me too, but ... I thought the first couple of calls were a bit ticky-tack - was glad they made them because it established a tone that carried throughout the game and it did not become a wrestle mania game - but it was unfortunate for Maryland that in that first two or so minutes of extremely tight whistles Jones happened to get two fouls called on her. So ... I will give Brenda a pass - I certainly would have been super pissed if I were a MD fan. It didn't really change the outcome I think, just made MD's task harder.

This should be printed out and given to everyone coaching the WCBB.

Two things:
jcoton - Would add, and Geno said this yesterday in the postgame:
They practice all year for the beating the best teams. I think this refers to the situations they are put into in practice - the extra defenders or extra offensive players to defend, the scrimmages where they are down 6 with two minutes on the clock and they have to win, etc. They are constantly put into situations from first day till march which are 'impossible' and they have to figure it out themselves. It builds, confidence, mental strength, and BBIQ.

And 'We rejoice in our teammates ....
While I found the ND players surrounding Mitchell to reflect really good sportsmanship, I did seriously wonder 'Where the heck are her SC teammates?!!!!' I don't think I have ever seen a teammate who missed the shot for the win abandoned to her own (or his own) misery the way SC players and coaches hung Mitchell out to dry. Maybe I missed something, but WOW!
