Former UConn defensive end Lindsey Witten has been signed by the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos.

Witten, who was a first-team All-Big East selection as a senior at UConn in 2009 when he had 14 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks, is getting his second chance at the CFL as he was signed by Calgary back in 2011.

Witten was signed by the Pittsbirgh Steelers as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2010 but never got into a game with Pittsburgh. He was signed by the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League after being cut by the Steelers but did not play a down for Hartford. Witten did have three tackles for Chicago of the Arena Football League in 2012 and now he has a chance with the Eskimos, a team with no players who had more than six sacks last season.<<

Having lived in an area where I could watch Canadain football from time to time, I became an instant fan. Wish they'd broadcast some of their games down here in the US from time to time. At least the Grey Cup. In any case, good luck to Lindsey...I'm sure he'll be a hit!

Many CFL games are broadcast on NFL Network (extended basic on Cox systems)

He will be the sixth Husky in the CFL not counting this upcoming season as those ranks could grow more with John Delahunt.

Congrats to Hard-Hittin' Lindsey Witten !

If you have access ESPN3. They're all on there.

My inlaws live in Winnipeg and it's a fun game to watch and fan support is excellent.

Hopefully like Larry Taylor he makes an impact was one helluva force at Uconn
