It's a terrific article. In summary, it says Danny Lansanah, a onetime Husky linebacker, is trying out for the Jets after failed attempts to make the Packers, Dolphins and Lions and after three years away from the NFL. He has spent those three years in his hometown of Harrisburg, PA, counseling teenagers and urging them to follow their dreams no matter how much adversity they encounter.

“I always say to never let your dreams go,” Lansanah said. “I’m living my dream right now.”

Also from the article --

He made 3 tackles and played 32 snaps in the preseason opener against the Lions. He is being given a hard look, particularly after an injury to Josh Mauga, a fourth-year linebacker. Coach Rex Ryan said that Lansanah had made fewer mistakes lately and that his knowledge of the defense had improved.

Brian VanGorder, the linebackers coach, described Lansanah as an “ascending player.”

The unusual circumstances surrounding Lansanah and the rust he might have built up in being away from the N.F.L. will not be considered as part of his evaluation for making the 53-man roster, Ryan said
