Is this two different awards? The Naismith best player and now the Julius Erving best small forward. I can't wait to see Liam play some real minutes a month from now after the team gets their feet under them. They don't just hand these things out, even preseason.

They've been doing all the position awards, including the Julius Erving (SF), Jerry West (SG), Karl Malone (PF) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (C), since 2015. The Bob Cousy award for best point guard has been given out since 2004.

The Naismith Award, the college player of the year, has been given out since 1969.
