Last year the Huskies collected 993 rebounds. Their opponents grabbed 1,097. Where they were outplayed is on the offensive glass. Huskies opponents had 403 offenive rebounds, over 13 a game. UConn had 276 or 9.2 a game.
Evening out that that number will surely be a major focus for KO. DD led the team with over 5 a game, Bazz was second, Omar was tied with team for fourth and Olander fifth, Giffey next.
If you look at by minutes than Wolf led the team with a rebound every four minutes, Nolan got one every five minutes, and Daniels got one every five and a half minutes of playing time.
That a little deep in the weeds but it does show the importance of size. Facey at 6-9 and Brimah at 6-11 should help just because of their height. Facey will definitely get PT. We'll see about Brimah, but I would love to see what his Drummondesque wingspan of 7-6 can do. Both need lbs, no question.
But, here's where it get intriguing. KO can now play a true big line up. Say Nolan (or Wolf) at the 5, Facey (or TO) at the 4 and move DD (or Giffey) to the three. That's a lot of pieces. And it should mean a lot more boards.
