Just a quick update to a post I made a a few days ago. Three impressive season stats for KML:

  • Kaleena is now tied with Svet for second-most points scored by a UConn freshman.
  • She now is 10th all-time in rebounds by a UConn freshman. And first all time by a guard (which she basically is on this team as composed, though she can play a frontcourt position as needed).
  • She has 91 three-pointers made, the most ever by a UConn freshman. It's good for fourth all time for a season by a UConn player, period. #3 is DT with 92 in her sophomore season. #2 is Renee with 99 during her senior campaign, so second place is very much within reach if UConn makes the Final Four. First all time for a season is Wendy Davis with 107, so that record is probably safe... for this season anyway. :) The career record is 318 by Diana- suffice it to say KML is on pace.
Very impressive stats. We may never have another player as college ready from Day 1 as Maya Moore, but KML has certainly shouldered her fair share of the load and then some this season.

Thanks, Alex.

KML is a stud; and it is always a joy to watch her play. She makes very few mental errors or "freshman mistakes" on the court. OR -- stated in the positive -- her basketball IQ is incredibly high. She moves very well on the court, gets herself open for lots of shots or other productive options. I think she is well ahead of Maya as a freshman in this regard. Maya, as Geno says, "was always moving but often with little clear purpose."

Add to the above that Kaleena is super fit.

It's great to see her stats confirming that what we see from game to game is truly extraordinary -- even by UConn's historical standards.

And coming soon, Breanna Stewart's place in UConn history.

Stay tuned!

Thanks. Like Maya, Kaleena makes scoring look easy.
