Last Minute Moving Companies?

I needed to do this a couple years ago because I threw out my back when we were moving... wife couldn't lift the washer/dryer/etc.

I called 3 companies and all were available at the last minute.

It was April 1st, 2020 so practically the whole world was shut down... but it would be worth making a couple calls.

It’s funny because when I met my wife (who grew up down here) she had no clue the rest of CT even existed. Had never been north of Milford. So we always just jokingly refer it to the 6th borough.

How far are you going @aceboon? If you need to solve the pack/unpack and the freight you might consider decoupling those things. For the freight part, I used U-Pack which allows you to schedule a trailer drop at your pick up and drop off locations. You load the trailer, a driver carries the load. It worked pretty well for me and I would imagine you'd be able to option it without much lead time. This would be a good option if you're moving out of state.

You'd still have to either pack it all up yourself or hire someone to help you with that piece, but I think the transit is what you'll struggle scheduling last minute with a shortage of drivers.

Be careful if you go with this option and hire out a crew to pack as you'll lose chain of custody visibility to who broke your stuff if it shows up in a different condition it left in.

Only about 15 miles, I found someone. Had a move scheduled for tomorrow that my mover had to cancel today due to an injury that that had me freaking out.

It's a heavily regulated industry, anyone with a good BBB rating and no complaints should be fine. Just read the insurance quote carefully and move anything that you absolutely can afford to lose/have damaged yourself, assuming you can lift it. If you are moving something like valuable artwork, find a specialist.

I would recommend Admiral Moving out of South Windsor. Used them twice in the past 2 years.

Lol! With a hand truck it's not bad. Washer/dryer are on the second floor in our house and pulling up a step at a time wasn't going to happen.
