This is a pretty amazing statistic. Over the past five NFL drafts, UConn has had 16 players drafted and BC has had 5. Clearly, BC has had coaching turmoil during this time period, but they went to the ACC and they recruited "better" players according to Rivals rankings (see below). It does point to BC has stopped developing players that go there. In other words, bad coaching. UConn's strength has been developing players. (It also points to a potential bias in Rivals ratings in favor of BC over UConn!) Developing players is crucial to Northeastern football programs as the local players are not as fully developed as Southern players.

Rivals Class Ranks:

2004: BC 53, UConn 99
2005: BC 49, UConn 79
2006: BC 37, UConn 85
2007: BC 46, UConn 65
2008: BC 33, UConn 71

This is the UConn way. Calhoun did much the same during his tenure, producing far more NBA players than the recruiting rankings would indicate.

There is no question that UConn has also surpassed BCU in football, hence their hiring of a CT guy with recruiting reputation to try to compete with UConn for Northeast kids (not to mention luring away our DC). They hold the conference prestige advantage over us and they want to keep that because its the ONLY advantage they have when recruiting against UConn.

We've still never beaten BC on the field. Too bad they won't play us now. They saw what happened to Syracuse.

Yeah but they're in the ACC and UConn isn't and wishes it was. Too bad that conference couldn't have projected a dozen years ago, which program had the biggest up side.
