This is great but we don't we need a lot more? WVU's new facility cost $23m and SU's was $19m.

They already have a decent pot, and need to hit a target number in order to feel comfortable "putting shovels in the ground" as they say.

Starting the actual construction also helps toward convincing others to donate as well, as the project has shown to actually be undertaken.

This should put us in the 16-17 million area, and with an expected total for the project @ 30 mil, I think its time for Wheels up, Shovels down.

Great news. This will really get things rolling. The change of leadership appears to be paying off figuratively and literally.

if true, as someone pointed out, that we have about $16 million so far, wouldn't it also be time to talk to the NBA alums and see if they can pony up some $$? i recall JC saying he'd never ask them to contribute, but other big NBA stars have for their alma maters, so why not UCONN alums?

bmayuc, Where are you getting your numbers from? I thought they had pledges of 9mm as of several weeks ago. I hope your number is right but I think you may be a little optimistic.

An article on UConnHuskies.com said that they half about half of the 30 million already in pledges.
