"UConn Soph Jeremy Lamb will release statement tomorrow regarding his decision, source says"

Via Kevin Duffy on Twitter

I'd be very surprised if Lamb came back, but at least we'll have a better idea of our team next year one way or another.

We played 1 game in the tourney this year and I still really enjoyed the season. I suspect ill be able to enjoy next year when we may play 1 less tournament game.

Agree, whats wrong with having a good season. Can't hurt and just makes the transition better to when we can play post season.

I think remaining a top team in the NCAA, despite not being able to play in the tournament, is essential for this program as we go through these rough times. And I think Jeremy Lamb can help us stay as a top team. Therefore, I hope he stays.

I know what you're saying, but I really just can't buy into that logic.

I'll get my season tickets and watch all the games, but ultimately there's really no point to next season.

Well, the point of spectator sports is supposed to be entertainment. Meaning, each game has its own value. While it's true that we want our team to make the post-season and it makes the individual games larger than just a contest, maybe it will be easier to not have to live and die with each possession. And maybe they'll drop the ticket prices:rolleyes:.

I think the season stood to stand some significance if we could have played in the Big East Championship, but now that the BE has screwed us over on that the whole season is just a glorified exhibition.

I started to try to read some significance into the fact that it was only a statement and not a press conference, since most guys who have left have done pressers. In this case, though, with all the external issues swirling around, it isn't a good time to gather press. Plus the fact that he's quiet and probably doesn't like press conferences. I still feel pretty confident he's gone.

says a lot about the "future" of the program IF he and/or AD stays and will make the transition better the following season. 2 players that could help bridge the gap ....

I can't judge how other fans gain happiness from a season but keep in mind, the regular season is all about building excitement towards a title. Sure, I want to see players develop, I wouldn't be a poster on a board like this if I didn't crave Pro am tidbits, practice notes and game analysis. But, without games meaning something, without seed and bubble talk, without going to sleep at night wondering about matchups, I think you may be surprised how badly this ban messes with your joy of a season. A friend told me, imagine if Kembas rise to stardom as a Jr. was a (banned) yr. What a waste for the fans. Terrible situation for all.

I think as the season approaches, casual fans may tune out and ignore the whole season, but I think it's still possible to get excited about things like doing well in the regular season, being a spoiler for the other teams in the conference, not losing to rivals, etc.

Can his stock really get much higher than it is now? Don't think he's ever gonna be the dominant leader we all wanted him to be so might as well go.

not sure if it's fair to say "imagine if Kemba's rise to stardom as a Jr. was a (banned) Yr." GemParty and even so, before the BE tourny, we were going nowhere fast losing 7 of out last 11. what happened after that was just INSANE.

... but if we were in a situation where we were a top 5 team at the time not losing 7 out of 11 then maybe ...

Jeremy should leave. He is going to be a top 20 pick at worst, probably a lottery pick or maybe just miss out on the lottery. He could have gone in the first round last year and despite the fact that he rarely had those "I am going to beat this team" performances, he had a pretty good season.

I don't see Jeremy improving in a way that would cause his stock to rise. He isn't quick enough to get by the shorter college 2 guards but in the NBA it will be different.

I'd love to have Jeremy on the team next year but I just don't see how he arrives at that decision.

We have no chance of ever winning a College Football Championship yet we continue to watch and cheer for them... it's the same thing.

Yes...but Lamb is in a good position to move to the NBA now. The chances of him coming back is very slim. I don't get why some of the Yard is calling out fans who say he should go. Objectively, he should go. UConn will play a season with or with out next year...and if it's without, then so be it.

Whether or not Lamb/AD are on the team next year, I'll still be rooting for them (even though I'm going to Indiana to start my Ph.D. in the fall ;))
