COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Plano Wildcats defeated the Manvel Mavericks 45-28 Saturday at Texas A&M's Kyle Field to win the FOX Sports Southwest 7-on-7 State Championship presented by adidas.

Led by tournament MVP quarterback Richard Lagow who threw for seven touchdowns in the championship game, Plano enjoyed upsets against Rosenberg Terry in the quarterfinals and Arlington Bowie in the semifinals.

Plano led by two scores most of the championship game and an interception with the clock dwindling by Tim Yoder closed out the victory giving Plano it's first state championship at the event in their 10th year of making it.

The consolation final saw Tyler John Tyler winning a 49-28 game with quarterback Greg Ward throwing five touchdowns.

John Tyler had four interceptions in the game with Darion Flowers and Isaac Warren returning theirs for touchdowns consecutively to end the game.

Nice win! Can't wait until he's enjoying that success in national flag blue and white!!

.-.
Many of the top QBs in Texas were in this event: Cody Thomas of Colleyville, Oklahoma commit, lost in the first round; Kenny Hill of Southlake, Texas A&M commit, lost in the first round; JT Barrett of Wichita Falls Rider, Ohio State commit, lost in the first round; Zach Allen of Temple, Syracuse commit, lost in the 2nd consolation round.

Very prestigious victory! I have a feeling we're going to have a very exciting passing attack for years to come!

The Plano football team has a blog, and they've put up a few stories about the victory:

Friday's pool play: http://www.planofootball.com/2012/07/20/plano-varsity-sweeps-state-7-on-7-pool-play/
Saturday's championship round: http://www.planofootball.com/2012/0...es-to-varsity-2012-7-on-7-state-championship/

Not much on individual performances.

The Plano Star doesn't seem to have anything on the championship yet, but they did two pre-meet stories: http://www.planostar.com/articles/2012/07/19/sports_update/6263.prt, http://www.scntx.com/articles/2012/06/27/sports_update/6301.txt

Saw a recruiting website which listed him 4 spots ahead of BCU's Boyle of X.
