Lack of Defensive Adjustments - Chief00 Deep Dive

Lots of observations on the game today, but for this thread I wanted to focus on one nuance of the game.
Herring Wilson #14 got beat on a long TD pass but was saved by a penalty, then the same receiver beat him again but the throw was short and hit Wilson in the back. Then the same receiver scored a touchdown 1x1 against Wilson on a long pass.
The purpose of this post is not to knock Wilson but to cricticize DC Crocker for not making an adjustment and getting help from the safety in this matchup. How often in sports do you get three chances?
Crocker and his staff seem to be adjustment paralyzed during games. They fail to make obvious adjustments. Since they have been overmatched in several games it’s not so apparent but in a close game it really hurts your chance of winning.

if we double team every matchup we are weak at, we will have to double team every WR, which opens up the running lanes. In a wet/windy game we had to take our chances at single coverage and stop the run.

Mrs Crocker, Chief00 couldn’t disagree more, UMass obviously identified that as a mismatch and had basically beaten us for two potential TDs - how could you not give him help? Let somebody else beat us that our opponent felt was less of a mismatch.
