I know he had shoulder surgery and I hope he goes on to have a nice career. He's a nice kid and from CT. That said how the hell was he a McDonald's AA, and rated the number 2 PG? He has no handle and can't shoot. I'm very happy we have Omar. It seems the recruiting experts over-rate every player we miss out on, and under-rate everyone we get. I trust Calhoun and Ollie's player evaluations a lot more than guys like Evan Daniels

Dunn seems to have regressed a ton from high school IMO. His shot was never good but his handle is worse and so is his quickness. Perhaps he just was facing vastly inferior competition last year. Cooley has yet to show he is a good player development coach.

The kid is playing out of position and coming off a major injury that would directly affect his "handle and quickness". As far as Cooley developing players; how about Henton and Cotton?

Cotton has developed a ton since he's been at PC. I think it would be unfair to not acknowledge that as a Cooley player development success.

Dunn is a really good athlete, but I'm not sure he's a point guard. I'm very interested to see how next year plays out for them, especially if Ledo ends up staying. There will be a lot of mouths to feed (Ledo, Cotton, Henton, and Batts in particular) and they'll be relying on Dunn and, I guess, Austin to feed them.

If people are judging him on a one game performance its unfair. Even Omar stunk in some games. As a freshman maybe he should get a pass, unless he was a projected one and done. I'll add playing against UConn his home state could have added some jitters to his play as well. I saw potential not a completed product.

Henton was a freshman last year, he was much better than advertised, is he better this year? He seems to have regressed a bit as well.

Cotton looks the same as last year to me, still a great shooter just more PT.

Defensively both Henton and Cotton are still atrocious, not to mention Council. Positioning is bad, rotations late and recognition isn't there at all. Leaving Napier wide open at the top of the guy on simple swing passes is just the easiest example of that flaw. Cooley had to know going ino the season that defense would be the biggest fix and I don't see much improvement. Even defensive stances are wrong.

How does a shoulder injury hurt quickness? Honestly Dunn is probably the only PC player I care about doing well. I know his family a bit and hope he has success.

I've watched more PC games than I care to because of Dunn an he has not been good this year. Very Marcus Cox like, so far.

He's never been a great ball handler and he probably never will be.

He reminds me of a bigger Mario Chalmers.

Cotton was a sophomore during Cooleys first year at PC. He was always a great shooter, he has marginally better handles now, but how else has he improved aside from having more PT? Defense is still very, very bad at a technical level.

Cotton was a completely unheralded recruit who is now the leading scorer in the Big East. Plus, he's playing essentially the same minutes as last year and his scoring has increased from 14 to 21 points per game.

I've watched a lot of PC games this year - Cotton's a very good offensive player. We were actually pretty fortunate that he missed some wide open looks last night.

Again he is a very good shooter. His handle went from abysmal to decent. Not sure where else he improved. His usage is much higher this year than last even if his minutes are the same. I guess Cooley is smart enough to use him, but I don't see any vast improvements. He has another year though.

He has another year to do what? Be the Big East's leading scorer again? The kid can play. If his "usage" is higher this year, it's because he's an even better scorer and it's 100% warranted. He shot 26% from 3 his freshman year, 37% last year, and 40% this year. His overall FG% has increased each year too - 39% to 41% to 47% this year. He's shooting twice as many free thows per game as last year - which is a function of him going to the basket a lot more.

In what way has he not improved offensively?

If you don't think a kid will be hesitant after a major injury; you don't know hoops. Watch tape of Dunn last year, he invites contact. This year he goes out of his way to avoid it. Full off season to get healthy and break bad HS habits; he will be fine.

I would have thought Cooley would've red shirted Dunn considering the extent of his injury, and time missed. Basically, he's thrown to the Big East wolves right away. Not the easiest way to start ones' collegiate career.
Having said that, I do believe he's more suited as a 2G rather than a PG. Irregardless, he should be a good player for you guys.

I don't think he has the shot or the mentality for the 2. Time will tell

I had forgotten about the surgery. Hard to judge a kid when he's likely not at his best, and probably won't be until next season. That's when we'll see what he is.
