I've heard KO was on several NBA teams' radars. Larry Brown was apparently the one who steered KO back home to UConn.

There was a lot of talk even while KO was still playing that he would be a great coach. When JC brought him on the staff it was evident that he was being groomed to be the next head coach of the program.
