Heading into the 2014-15 season, the top 5 career three-pointers made in UConn history:

1. 318 -------------------------------- Diana Taurasi
(318-811), 144 games, 2001-04

2. 311 ---------------------------------- Maya Moore
--------------(311-769), 154 games, 2007-11

3. 290 --------------------------------- Ann Strother
--------------(290-770), 143 games, 2002-06

4. 279 --------------------------------- Wendy Davis
--------------(279-635), 127 games, 1989-92

5. 277 --------------Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis
--------------(277-642), 104 games, 2011-14

The NCAA-wide record is 392 at the hands of Kansas State's Laurie Koehn.

KML, then, needed 115 treys this season to reach Koehn's record. Assuming UConn plays at least 38 games (i.e., national semis at worst), she'd need to average just over 1 trey a game to break Diana's UConn record and just over three a game to match or break the NCAA record.

Well, KML hit 10 three-pointers tonight. That's above her needed per-game averages to say the least.

KML broke Wendy Davis's single-season record in 2012-13. In her first game this season, Kaleena is now above Wendy's career at #4 on the all-time career list.

Annie is only three ahead of KML, but she's going be down to #4 very, very soon.

I'd kind of like to make this a season-long thread as Kaleena pursues an amazing record. She's as great a distance shooter as we've ever had, and I'd love to see her name atop the UConn list AND the NCAA list.

She hit 118 treys as a sophomore; she can meet or exceed that tally this season. Go KML!!!

5 per game might create a record that no one will match
Asking a lot.

Undoubtedly KML's performance tonight was entirely attributable to her being passed over for air time on the SNY season preview show that was broadcast on Wednesday.

Geno just called her the best shooter he's ever seen. At any level.

If she had not missed 12 games last year, she certainly would have (1) passed Laurie Koehn's WCBB record for treys; (2) challenged J.J. Redick's record for career treys; and (3) passed Tina Charles for second on the UConn career scoring list. Kaleena may get (1) and (3) anyway.

Let's do some math: 39 games at 10 per game equals 390 in a season. That would be an impressive record. :)

It may be fitting that K had exactly 10. She goes into the UConn record books with the great Maya Moore. Wearing 23 at UConn means greatness.

I knew that someone had surpassed Redick's record in the past few years, so I looked it up and yes it was surpassed last year. The current record holder made 504 career three's

Who was that? J.J. had about 430. 504 is like Ray Allen's NBA career record. :)

Some kid I've never heard of before who played at Oakland (Michigan) . Redick had 457 actually

Most records were meant to be broken..... I think Allen's record will eventually be surpassed by Steph Curry.

Indeed, if Kaleena hadn't missed those 12 games, she might have passed Diana last year...or at least would have tonight. And she might have shattered Koehn's record this season. Ah well- she still has a chance.

One other point of note: Kaleena's three-point shooting percentage for her college career is higher than either Maya's or Diana's. She will be a legend when all is said and done.

Think she should have been one of the Three to See? As far as I'm concerned, she and Stewie are my Two to View. :)

Seriously, how do you focus on Stewie defensively with all of this skilled perimeter shooting? The offense last night was all about moving the ball around to get an open three-pointer. And if you try to take that away, there's always Kiah and Morgan inside. Any wonder why three players got seven assists?

KML most certainly won't get 390 threes this year... On a realistic note she only needs 41 threes to catch DT...that is a mere 1.08 threes per game. Barring injury or an act of God...this is a as close to a certainty that you can get. More than likely we will see KML average about 3 to 4 threes per game which should put her somewhere between 124 and 162 threes this year...or, somewhere between 401 and 439 for her career. On the hypothetical if she hadn't lost those 12 games it would have put her somewhere between 437 and 487...that is some rarified air if you ask me.

Wow though on Wendy Davis' accuracy -- 43.9%, even better than KML!

Sue does indeed have a 45.9 FG% from behind the three-point line, going 207 for 451 in her UConn career. KML *was* #3 behind Wendy Davis, but after going 10-13 last night, her percentage went up to 44.1%. That puts her slightly ahead of Wendy.

One other thing to consider: her threes have been from longer range.

Again, she's got a very good chance to best the best three-pointer shooter UConn has ever had, not to mention one of the very best in NCAA history.

I cannot wait to see this thread unfold over the course of the season...

UPDATE: In going 5-10 from behind the arc tonight, KML increased her career tally to 294. She's now in sole possession of #3 amongst all UConn WBB players in career treys- 17 behind Maya, 24 behind Diana. She's also now 98 treys away from the NCAA record with as many as 34 or 35 games to go for the season.

In other words, the UConn record is a matter of time, and the NCAA record is attainable.

What's the NCAA season record?
I don't know!

Of course, Laurie Koehn made 132 out of 135 threes in five minutes, so that must be some sort of record. :)

Laurie Koehn in a one-dimensional player, but she's a 3-point machine. She's about as good as it gets. The record of 392 is hers ... for a while.

Found the single season record! It's 126, by Lisa McMullen of Alabama State. That's the Division 1 record. Across all divisions, it's 146 by Laura Maleenee of Division II West Liberty.

Ok, that is the easiest spot on the floor but ...

She opens with 39 in a row, then misses.

Then, I believe she nails 83 straight.

She gets a little careless as she rushes near the end.

Very impressive!
