Sorry if this topic has ever been brought up before but I am curious as to why KML has yet to be put on the Huskies of Honor wall at Gampel. I understand that sometimes it takes a while for a players' numbers to be put on the wall but then again, both UConn men's and women's bball teams have a recent history of placing numbers on the wall soon after players graduate/have won a national championship (Kemba Walker '11, Shabazz Napier '14, Bria Hartley '14, Steph Dolson '14). KML just won her third national championship (currently most in team history - Stewie will have a shot at 4 and would certainly have her number up this April if she does that). KML is 3rd on UConn women's scoring list and has the most 3 pointers in Division 1 history. I think she eventually gets her number on the wall, just wondering when? Any thoughts?

I think she'll be honored last February.

For the record, the criterion for going on the HoH Wall is being honored as a First Team AA, not winning a NC. For instance, Kerry Bascom never won a NC, but she's on the Wall.

KML was a WBCA AA in 2013 and thus was guaranteed to be on the Wall on Senior Night (or Senior Day in the case of 2015). Bria and Stef had already been named WBCA AA (Bria in 2012, Stef in 2013), and were thus added to the wall on Senior Night 2014 (March 1).

.. and this year on Senior night Stewie and MoJeff will be added... and next year Morgan Tuck hopefully will be added.... At what point will there be no more room on that wall?

A welcome problem.......

Yep- I love seeing all those names: Kerry, Rebecca, Jen, Kara, Shea, Svetlana, Sue, Swin, Diana, Rene, Tina, Maya, Bria, Stefanie, and Kaleena, with Breanna and Moriah next a Senior Night, along with Morgan if she can squeeze into the list of 10 WBCA AAs. All names resonate: just an exceptional continuum of accomplishment and greatness. I'm not saying UConn is entitled to every kid it recruits, but still...how can you not want to be a part of all that???

The solution is obvious... bigger mountains and bigger stadiums....or we could really freak out the guests with holographic players on the court!

Just reduce the size of everyone's plaque to create more space. By the time Geno retires,
we may need a magnifying glass to read them. :p

I was going to suggest that Ed, but you beat me to it. Need more room? Just make all of the banners smaller, problem solved.

Sounds like it's time to expand the facility.

I like it! Taurasi with the left hand. Bird at the buzzer. Rizzotti on the run. Dolson and 1. KML with the dagger. Hoo boy.

When I heard UCONN was going to build a practice facility I thought the best possible move was to rebuild the present Gampel into the training/practice facility and build a NEW GAMPEL! 15,000 theater seats, with all the bells and whistles like the PSU facility, The Jordan Center, or any other brand new arena! ALL games would be ON CAMPUS, NO XL! 1 game each in Bridgeport and Mohegan Sun, ok! Special Students sections, maybe like Duke, courtside! More concession areas with a better choice of food than Gampel has now, which is really NO CHOICES! NO TV SCREEN OVER THE COURT LIKE XL! More stats, ask fans/students what they want in an on campus arena!
The present Gampel is falling apart, especially the roof! And the idea that 1/3 of the arena is bleacher seats is ridiculous!
They can have an arena worthy of two great basketball programs!

Jordan Center was nice, was there shortly after it opened, but to be honest wasn't noticing that much. Was on a Rutgers bus trip and ran late due to weather IIRC. However, I agree that Gampel, like many somewhat older arenas, had shortcomings. As did the RAC, as does the McKale Center here in Arizona, the arena up at that other school up north, etc. Still, it is not always practical to give an on-campus arena all the bells and whistles. The cost of those extras add up. The must haves in a really good arena for the average fan - the huge TV scoreboard, the not-in-the-arena concourse with a variety of concessions, ample restrooms, and easy parking. Or so I have been told.

Special student sections are ok, but might not be so good for WBB - is there a large student contingent? The 3 arenas where I have sat in them (2 were NCAA tourney games w/ no student section) were Cameron (OOC charity tourney), Vanderbilt (NCAA) and Michigan State (NCAA). All were bleacher seating at the time. With a few exceptions (Duke) rarely used much for women's games.

I understand your point but Gampel sucks on many areas, and for the Best WCBB team in the USA and one of the best Men's BB teams it's a downer that what represents UCONN is a 1980 style arena falling apart! All the wall scoreboards and awards are great just have a better showcase!
You can't even get a good sandwich or hamburger or some good food more than nachos/cold pizza/and "little brown missiles of death" (hot dogs)! It's horrible that 1/3 of season ticket holders(such as my buddy and I) have bleacher seating for the same ticket price as regular seats, and all seating is sardines packed in a can! UCONN no longer treats it's season ticket holders as if they are special, or appreciated, horror stories are everywhere!
And as for the Student, they come out to Gampel not XL Center! They would come out in large numbers if we had a new arena that put students out front! What a homecourt advantage that could be!
With all the alumni money floating around UCONN and the State Legislature loving UCONN they can afford a modern area!

I am not aware of all the factors required to make the Huskies of Honor but with all the numbers KML has put up and the records she has broken--she certainly has my vote.

Simple solution---There are way too many hills in Connecticut. Flatten them out and take the left over to Storrs and build your own mountain.
