Great success by KLS and Gabby in Euro League this year... pandemic times and all. Both have been fantastic. IF the MVP follows what usually (NOT Always ;) ) happens with these awards, one could expect that KLS would win it...as the best player on the best team during the Regular Season.

Never a big proponent of "Fan Voting"... because these can be manipulated so much to remove all legitimacy.

So Proud of the Success of these Huskies (... once a Husky, always a Husky).

2 years of basketball missed in high school. 2 years playing undersized post at UConn. 2 years as facilitator from top of key at UConn.

Gabby has since put in the necessary work to develop her outside shot.

Geno made a comment during Gabby's freshman season that it was going to be fun watching her basketball skills catch up with her athleticism.

She's a work of art. There may be someone who is more eye-popping sprinting down the court, driving and slashing through the lane, and elevating for a rebound . . . But I've never seen them.

Can't agree more......... :)

Geno agreed.

So did BY favorite Joanne P.
UConn's Gabby Williams Compared to Another UConn Great

:)

One of my favorite lines from Geno about Gabby when she first came to the team as a freshman:

“When Gabby came, she was supposedly a guard. And I told her, ‘hey, you know, if you could just learn to dribble, and shoot, and pass the ball ... you’d be a pretty good guard.’”

Wait, Stewie is only 12.3 PPG; 4.8 RPG; 2.5 APG? She must not play hard ... :p

They don’t call her “The Rebounding Samuelson” for nothing.

How great for her and Karlie to be playing together in Europe.
If you recall in her final UConn season, she was called upon to rebound and remarked, “If I had known it was this easy...” or words to that effect. Her Spanish team pays her to score and rebound and she leads in both but assists are down.

I try and catch all of their games. They seem to have such a great relationship - this is my favorite picture of either one of them.

Gabby and Lous teams play on Wed Mar 17 and Fri Mar 19. The Euroleague games will be streamed live on the FIBA Youtube channel

They dont play each other. Gabbys team Sopron(Hungary) plays LDLC Asvel (France)

Lous team plays another team from Spain, Spar Girona. That is the team that beat Lous team in OT last week.

Link to the games. Stewies team plays the same day, different location.

KLS solidified her claim to MVP yesterday with 22 points on 75% shooting from 2, 60% from 3, with 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
Not for the Euroleague, since the game yesterday was a Spanish league game.

Perfumerias Avenida plays Girona on March 17 and 19 in the Euroleague quarterfinals. They lost to Girona last week in the Queen`s Cup, a separate tournament in Spain - that was their only loss of the season. They are 6-0 in Euroleague and 26-0 in the Spanish league.

I think the way it works is if Avenida and Girona split, the winner is based on point differential for the two games.

Two of their six Euroleague wins came at the expense of Arike Ogunbowale`s team.

Just noticed that Arike Ogunbowales team, Dynamo Kursk, fired the coach last week. We are talking about the team in the Russian league with the 2nd best record at 14-3(UMMC--Stewies team is 17-0). From what I have seen from the games Dynamo Kursk has played, there seemed to be a bit disharmony among the players and previous coach. Not sure if that is why Zahui B left the team earlier this year and Stephanie Mavunga seemed to not play very much since the beginning of the year. Mavunga played in todays game vs UMMC, a win for UMMC 79-70. Stewie had 17 pts 12 rebounds and 5 assists in the game, today. Last time these teams played UMMC won by 27. Maybe the new coach helped. Same teams play in Euroleague next week,

I have linked the you tube link below for todays game.

I watched games. Arike’s team was terrible and she wasn’t much either.
