KK had a great steal and layup in the Xavier game. She bounced right up with a huge smile on her face and immediately started harassing the unbounded. The smile seemed to say, this is awesome I get to play defense again!!

We may have had better defenders (though I’m not sure that we have) but I especiallly love how much joy she brings to it! What a pleasure to watch.

We have to watch the games from a distance. We don't see the game up close. Imagine the mojo on the court for UConn. Inspiring! Most people never do anything in their lives with as much conviction as the Husky players do continuously. KK gives this team so much. Geno doesn't talk about her much and it's pretty bland. He doesn't have to send her messages. She's there. He's happy with her.

Agreed. KK does not get the credit she deserves at all, but that's one of the great things about her she is an unselfish total team player willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win without regard for her personal stats. I watched the Texas / S. Carolina game and while she is a fine point guard everyone raves about Rori Harmon when I honestly think KK is a better all-around player. She could be a stat stuffing point guard on any other team in the country but with Azzi and Sarah as primary First Team All American caliber scorers and passers she is perfectly content to run the point and make the right passes to the right person and open player and handle the ball and score only when needed or the opportunity is there. Defensively and offensively, she is the engine that fuels the team and its heart, if she is not at least 1st team All-Big East and its defensive player of the year it is a travesty. I assume that her plus/minus and assists to turnover ratio are off the charts as she has been totally under control all season and her decision making and ball handling have been almost perfect. She makes great passes that often don't get converted or lead to the next pass that gets the assist or basket, and on defense she often makes the play that leads to the turnover or steal so her positive impact can't be measured merely by stats. And yes, through it all she has such joy and positive energy that buoys the whole team.

Add me to what is hoped to be a long list of those pulling for KK as Big East Defensive Player of the Year. If one existed she should also be a candidate for MEP - Most Enthusiastic Player.

Agreed that KKaos should get Big East defensive player of the year, but let’s not overlook the defensive play of Azzi this year which also has been nothing short of amazing. How about honorable mention.

.-.
I think KK sets the tone for the defense on UConn. It's called in-your-face defense. Ball pressure, switches, double teams, pure joy of playing the D.
