This post on X was on the General Board under Vandy since Mikayla Blakes was selected (@YoDore ) but KK and Azzi were selected as well. Congrats to them! Anyone know what this is all about? The criteria for selection? Etc.?

Azzi also participated in the inaugural session in 2023. I don't know exactly what it entails, but I think it's as much (or even more) about the professional and social-emotional aspects of being a top-level basketball player as it is about the skills. I believe Kelsey reflected on what she wished she would have known as she embarked on her WNBA career and tried to distill it into a workshop of sorts for these young women. Here's an overview of the first session from Under Armour, the sponsor.

Edited to add: I forgot that KK attended last year as well, so she and Azzi will both be returnees.

Yeah we need to bubble wrap Azzi until October.
she's walking around in a boot right now......the question is does she need any additional/treatment or surgery for it? I'd rather have her take the summer to heal up than play in some glorified pick up games......

To an extent, I thought it was a 'business training' camp of sorts specific to entering into the WNBA. Things like, how your agent needs to be looking out for you in certain situations. How you want your accountant to arrange and plan for your income taxes given that you are going to be earning wages from eleven separate states. How you will want the team to arrange for housing for you, what is included, what is not, and what would be best for you. And in some situations, like Nika's, you will need to get the U.S. State Department to issue you a work visa in lieu of the current student visa; a process that can take months so get going on that!

I've got no problem with that........ I just want to see every UConn player at 100% physically and mentally by next Fall......

I love that those two were invited, and I hope that Ashley takes her non-invite as motivation to grind out the next seven months like nobody’s business!

I'm pretty sure it was last year, there was a video at the camp with Azzi and Georgia Amore working out together.

KK and Georgia were fun at this camp last year. So, I am looking forward to seeing them together again.

Also, I like that Syla and Tessa were invited. Two of my favorites.

This is awesome for all players that get the invite and accept that invite. There really is no criteria other than being a primarily a backcourt player.

Geez - Azzi is like an accident waiting to happen. I agree she should take the simmer off - even though that's not a guarantee with her history!

Like usual, there is a lot of good content from dawg class. I like this yearbook themed reel on IG.

This is purely speculation on my part and I'm not an orthopedic doctor so I am sure I'll be told if I'm off base here, but I wonder if Azzi is wearing the boot to treat plantar fasciitis? My daughter went through this when she started working as a nurse full time (and was running to relieve stress and improve cardio) and found she needed orthotics because she was on her feet so much. Her treatment included wearing a boot for symptom relief.

I don’t know if you are right or not. But I have thought about how Azzi had foot issues as a freshman. It did cross my mind when I saw her constantly wearing that boot.

I wonder if KK and Azzi had any discourse with Kayleigh Heckel about coming to UConn

I never wore a boot during the day, but had one that was at about an 80-85 degree angle for sleeping. It’s to put a gentle stretch on the calf/Achilles all night. Worked like a charm. I also began mixing in cycling at the same time (I was an avid runner), which strengthens the arch and also stretches and strengthens the Achilles and calf. I have orthotics, too, primarily for arthritic toes, but they also help the plantar fascia.
