Baylor seemed well coached to win after Cox went down.Sheppard was invisible until Cox went out then she came alive. The Baylor girls didn't panic and that comes from Kim. That being said I always thought she should have won more than 1 championship with Griner and O. Sims together for 3 years. And yes I too had a smile on my face when Arike missed the free throw.

I can't respect a coach who ducked us for years to make her record look better.

Mulkey has one strategy--go out and recruit the biggest beasts. I wanted to smile when Arike missed (with Cox out ND would have won in overtime) but she's a great player and, more importantly, a young woman who probably will relive that miss the rest of her life. I root first for UConn but then for all women players.

UCONN also recruited Cox and Brown. Apparently Geno is less dismissive of the big post approach than you are. Moreover, that is not Mulkey's only strategy. She surrounded her posts with really good guards and wings. They, too, are among the players who should be celebrated.

If she wanted to have good memories of it, then she should have made it.

Kim is tough as nails...I am so old I first saw her on ABC sports winning the 1st NCAA title...

she was cute as heck blond with twin long braided hair wrapped around in a circle and the ends reattached to head...

Then I watched her play she was super point guard ran the offense, shot well, defended and Jen Rizzoti Aggressive...

She sometimes visits crazy town on the sidelines with the referees now...But she is a good WBB coach with a lot of passion...

What separates her from the rest is she does not take herself too seriously off the court...

How many women opposing coaches would let Geno slap her in the butt on National TV...LOL...

The one and only Kim M. Got to love her...

absolute pettiness from the "ducking" crowd

Baylor was the only team to flat out butt whip UConn --- sour grapes from UConn fans is ridiculous for obvious reason.

Only grabs bigs ? One dimensional ? --- utter and complete nonsense.

They ran on ND when they had chances to, they played better overall D, they're guards controlled the game pace. 26 by Jackson, great game by Richardson --- that wasn't just about bigs.

Losing Cox changed everything.....and Baylor did not adjust to life without her. Defensively they left gaping holes.

But who did the ball go to for the winning shot --- it didn't go into the remaining big.

And that play/ shot by Jackson should be getting some noise -- especially since an OT heavily favored ND with Cox and Smith both out.

Great play, pretty shot she has too -- straight up, great vertical, smooth release at highest elevation, ball above her head fully extended ----not the chest launches or shoulder pushes the bigger names have.

This was the best team - easily, -- this would not have been that close with Cox.

Best balanced, inside and out, offense and defense, --- assembled, coached, and held together in the crunch.

Credit to Mulkey. Give it up - it was earned.

I, unfortunately, disrespected her coaching ability either on this site or Rebkell some years ago. I put her in a category of former player coaches that only succeeded against a weak pool of coaches.. It was not just this season that made me change my mind though. I think I was unduly influenced by her lack of success when she had Griner. But then most WCBB coaches would not have been able to develop a player like her because they just did not exist in WCBB before then. As I followed the Baylor program more closely I soon recognized that she is a very good coach who cares about her players on and off the court.

I wanted to publically correct my mistake earlier but just did not get around to it. Of course better late than never and now is the perfect time.
