Kia will Play Saturday vs Memphis or Tulsa [merged thread]

As I've said before, there is a difference between being hurt and being injured. Players play through various aches and pains throughout the season and frankly it's expected. So yes, a sprain is not considered and injury. Injuries such as muscle or ligament tears, fractures and serious dislocations can be career threatening and are treated as such. Players are not expected to play through injuries.

The ultimate example of this could be Stef hobbling through the NCAA tourney.

And if one digs in to collective memories ye shall find others ye shall. I bet!! While it isn't common place--kids have played sick or injured for many of the 30 years of the Geno era---again--I doubt he'd risk career ending if injuries are provoked further.

Speaking from experience--provoked sprains can lead to a chronic issue with the sprained item ( in my case ankle)--sprains are not a ho-hum another sprain thing--a strong ankle turned into a weak ankle with another sprain. The treatment then was wrap the ankle and keep on going.
Hope the have a better fix now. Aches and pains are expected--most of that is muscles being worked to the point they are strong enough --
Tina had a shoulder tear and played with it wrapped for a long time--off season had it repaired.

Agree with your comment on the difference between being hurt and injured, but I can assure you that a sprain is most definitely an injury usually involving some type of muscle tear.

Sprains are classified from I to III based on their severity. A class III high ankle sprain can keep a player out for several months.

Very well may be true. But I'd take a 90% Kia over most any other 100% player on any other team. What she brings to the team equally important to her physical skills is BB IQ and that part won't be affected by her injury. She helps the team operate correctly on all cylinders.

I won't disagree. But if she re-injures herself in a game that could have been won without her, the unhappy campers will clog the information superhighway. I favor strategic resolve over pure stubbornness. You are very right about Kia's ability to contribute. But that also explains my apprehension.

Agreed. I forgot the classification of sprains. Indeed if not properly tended to, sprains can affect a players play literally for years.
