Kia Nurse Named To Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List

Thanks Java.

It will be a bit difficult for her to win this and not end up enshrined on "The Wall" as well. I think she is primed for a monster season. Let's go KIA

She is hungry. She is ready and firing on all cylinders.
I went back and watched a few games from last season. I think she was hurt (foot) a lot earlier than the So.Co. game.
She doesn't have injuries hampering her this year.

Captain Canuck for All-American!

If Kia leads the Huskies in scoring and the nation in 3-pt shooting (Yes I believe both are good possibilities) the Lieberman award is a definite possibility.

Congrats to Kia!

I think that there's another player, a very Dangerous player who belong on that list.

Can the list be updated if she was not one of the original 20 if her play warrants it? If she plays as we seem to expect, she fits the pg description better than just about anyone on the watch list now.

Not to nitpick, but isn't the Lieberman award for point guards? Seems like a rather loose interpretation to include Kia, especially with Crystal on the team.

Yes, but through the years a number of combo guards like DT, Skylar Diggins & Odyssey Syms have won the award, and I would most definitely classify Kia as a combo guard.

If she does that, she's a 1st team AA. That means sadly one of the current AA's will not be able to be nominated. Such a stupid system...

Take a closer look at midseason. ;)

That's why it says IMO. It is what it is, but according to the story I read: "Players can play their way onto and off of the list at any point in the 2017-18 season. The winner of the 2018 Lieberman Award will be announced at an inaugural awards ceremony at the NCAA Women’s Final Four in Columbus, Ohio." Assuming this is true, she can play her way on.

I think Canada, Mitchell, and Brown are the leading candidates--at this point.

I would agree, though I think McCarty, Ionescu, William, and Flaherty will merit consideration.

One thing I like about the Lieberman watch list is that they make a concerted effort spread the love to the mid-majors. I've never even heard of five of the names on the list.

However, I think that omitting Tyra Buss of Indiana is a significant oversight.

Still can't believe how ripped this kid is. Even that pales in comparison to her emotional and maturity growth.
