Thank you or this opportunity to toot my own horn .
Kiah has great credentials but as Meyers already said Collier , KLS, Boykin, Gabby, Tuck, Courtney can all play the SF. Don't forget we are also in hot pursuit of one Miss Walker who plays the same position. Maryland was a good choice for Kiah since she could possibly start right away in the spot vacated by Mincy.

Coach Frese has always shown a willingness to trust her teams' fortunes to freshmen.

Makes one wonder? Did Geno miss the boat on her or was there something about her? Or is MD that thin to start a freshman?

Maryland is definitely thin this year considering they only return 2 players who averaged double digits in scoring last year.

Neither. Geno got the number 1 & 2 Wings (SF) in this class in Collier and KLS-Geno should get credit for that. MD was a FF team last two seasons Kiah making the starting line up for MD is a great accomplishment- Kiah Should get that credit.

Brenda wanted a natural backup to Brionna Jones so Malina Howard comes in off the bench to replace her. Good move in my opinion. Kiah plays PF. She had a dominant game in the first exhibition, especially the beginning of the third quarter. IUP (26-4) gave Maryland better competition last night and Kiah almost had another double double (12-9). Brianna Fraser our other freshman did have a double double. Maryland is a little thin right now because we have three injured players. Hopefully two of them will be back before the UConn game.

Geno, Chris, Shea are terrible judges of talent. They had this terrific player on their own front door and let her slipppppp away to Maryland who will most likely win at least 3 championships with her. Stupid GENO.

Can you believe Geno passed on Gillespie for the #1 recruit in the country? Unbelievable!

Obviously it is too early to tell how each of them will do but from the description I read from KLS first game, Kiah has had the better start in the exhibition season. Can't wait until they go head to head December 28th.

I'm sure the tongue was placed firmly in the cheek. Kiah in her WNBA exhibition game did well. Kia Nurse was terrific in the Lubbock game. I'm going out an a thin limb and say --before the season is over KLS will be great--to become greater. She'll never be Stewie or Diana, but she be a perfect KLS.......

Malina Howard could feel disrespected because she started at PF for a FF team last year and Jones didn't have a "Natural backup" Brenda is trying to give the ol nana boo boo to Geno by starting Kiah, I'll be at some terps games this year

Malina Howard was hurt during practice and the first exhibition game and Kiah got her chance to play. She played very good and impressed Frese, so Frese said she is going to start. I don't think she is necessarily starting over Malina. I would think she is going to take Mincy's SF position and Malina will start at PF. That seems the most potent line up to me. But I could be wrong. Malina started at PF last year and backed up Jones at center also.

I don't think Brenda is thinking that she will start Kiah to show up Geno. Brenda has started freshmen many times in the past, if they deserve to start, she starts them. Below is Frese's comments about Kiah.

Players go to UConn to win Championships and sacrifice the me for we, every non starting recruited player on UConn roster could start for another team in the top 25 teams

and that's why they may choose those other schools... doesn't mean they aren't UConn material or Geno backed off.

No one can knock (especially Connecticut folks) a kid from Connecticut that STARTS on a top Division one Team. Yet, we must believe that Geno had choices and this young lady wasn't one of them, he always makes choice for valid reasons.

Sometimes really good basketball players love the game and want to play. Being on a Championship team may not be enough--maybe being on a top 10 or final 4 team is ego pushing enough, if you get to start on the lessor team.

This is not even true. I won't name the player but I doubt she will start for South Carolina, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Baylor, Louisville or Duke.

If you re-read the original post you will notice the use of another team in the top 25 team vs. any team in top 25. There is not a UCONN recruited player that would not start for George Washington, Northwestern, or Princeton for example.

Your statement sure made it sound like any recruited UCONN player could step into a starting role on any team in the top 25. IMO, the "any" is implied.
