I will add that if you can swing it getting out on a boat is a great way to spend sometime down there, whether chartering one for fishing, a sunset cruise or driving to Islamorada and renting your own. Also make sure you get to the sunset celebration at Mallory Square. I hate snakes, I am petrified of them and literally run away from even a small garter snake but I have a picture somehow inexplicably of a giant (12’) yellow boa wrapped around my entire body at the pier during the sunset celebration.
