Try this: He was the Director of Basketball Administration at UConn. That is an administrative role. It is not an assistant coaching position. He could not go out recruiting since he was not an assistant coach. In the role of DOBA I don't think he was even allowed to work with the players on the court. He was making $150,000 at UConn.
