Well isn't this a funny.

The horribly overrated Arkansas team, who has somehow remained in the AP top 25 despite bad losses and no good wins, will finally get its first meaningful win of the season due to the fact that Rhyne Howard is out with injury.

I mean, Kentucky lost at home to Florida without Howard.

38-35 ARK at the half
Dungee 10 pts, 1 reb, 2 ast

57-48 ARK at the third media break
Howard is playing but it hasn’t been her best game.

I love how these overrated SEC teams are making each other look better than they are by giving each other overrated wins.

Arkansas 71 Kentucky 54 after 3.

71-54 ARK end of third
Dungee 17 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast

I like chasity Patterson’s game. She’s a nice little player but the supporting cast everywhere else is not good for Kentucky

Problem for Arkansas is games like this is where they really thrive, shooting at this high percentage from 3 is not sustainable. They might catch lightning in a bottle and maybe pull an upset off but this isn't a system that is sustainable to win consistently.

Both teams might be kicked out of the SEC for excessive speed and good 3pt shooting ;)

I don’t know who Patterson is she, but has 32 points for Kentucky even with Howard playing, and it’s still not enough to take down the beast that is Arkansas.

Dungee has been unconscious.
8-12, 4-4 from three, 4-4 from FT
She will not be denied.

I don’t know who Patterson is

Highly recruited player and transfer from Texas. Under Ashton she didn't do much or play at all really. She is probably better off at Kentucky. She looks very solid so far since being eligible.

Comical. Kentucky is just not a good road team at all.

Bummer we'll only get 1 full season of her at the collegiate level (unless you count her freshman season where she barely played). She's a joy to watch.

I have a feeling they can get her a waiver for that sophomore year. They've been granting similar waivers, e.g., to Danberry and J. Dean.

Talk about a battle of the movable object versus the stoppable force, as far as defense is involved. Arkansas must have felt like transitioning from the decompression chamber that is South Carolina defense, to the wide open spaces of Kentucky defense. They scored 65 points in total in the USC game, and scored 65 pts in the 2nd half alone here.....

And Kentucky scored 50 pts in the 2nd half themselves. There's a lot of SEC games where the final score doesn't reach 65-50. Our game versus Tennessee was 69-48......

I hope Gamecock fans are saying the same about Destiny Littleton next season.

Frankly, Kentucky played a tactically stupid game, letting this game turn into a run-and-gun affair. That plays right into Arkansas' narrow niche. Mitchell has not impressed me as a game coach this season, and this was disappointing even by his low standards.

Kentucky doesn't have the personnel to play like that. Maybe they thought they'd get a ribbon for scoring over 80, but they still lost by 20.

Kentucky certainly lacks personnel wise but I just feel there is absolutely no chemistry with this team. Very different team from a year ago with Morris and Murray. I am not feeling it with this group, they are what they are at this point. They should be an interesting group to watch next year getting their injured freshmen back, signed two very solid players, specifically Treasure Hunt, and they get Edwards eligible. A lot more options and people to turn to instead of just the Howard show.

Kentucky shot the ball a lot better than they usually do. Issue is they decided to not play defense and they let Arkansas play into their strength. It became like a NBA game out there, every one would launch 3's and uncontested shots, high scoring game.

Its a much needed win for Arkansas as they lack quality wins. For Kentucky, Howard is doing what she can with her injury but I guess Pattersons play is a positive.

But that's pretty much been Matthew Mitchell's signature offensive style at UK. They have had past seasons of having most games with 100+ shot attempts - in some seasons, they struggled because they couldn't make those shots or layups to any appreciable degree, so it essentially negated whatever logic that willy nilly offense presented, but they have pretty much been all about fast breaks, quick 3-pt shots, perimeter and full press defense to force turnovers, then rinse and repeat.

Somewhere in there as an after-thought is always the notion of rebounding and playing post defense, but its waay in the depths of Mitchell's mind. He thinks he can out-score opponents to wins......

That's the thing, though. Sometimes you have to adjust your tactics to the opponent. If Mitchell thought for one second he was gonna win a shootout with Arkansas, then he needs to be charged with incompetence. I do believe Kentucky is capable of playing good defense but they needed to slow the tempo down to something less than "frenetic" and "hully gully".

Good for Patterson and her scoring outburst, but she only helped feed into a game style that favored Arkansas. Pyrrhic victory to say the least. For every bucket she scored, Arkansas got at least 2 thanks to the fast pace she played into.

You are preaching to the choir. I completely agree. Kentucky can play very sound defense when they slow the pace down but I agree, trying to out race Arkansas was about as dumb as it can get. They don't have the personnel to pull that off
