“Back then, it was cricket, then track and field, then soccer, now basketball is making a huge impact in how kids are viewing sports on the island,” Facey said. “It’s an option for them and they’ve seen really good examples of guys who have made it out. It allowed me to achieve a higher education.

“We can help these kids be attractive to high schools and colleges and open up doors for them, broaden their horizons.”

Dom Amore’s Sunday Read: UConn star grows sport in Jamaica; Paige Bueckers … never heard of her

Love Facey.
There was a discussion about the Paige thing on the women's board too, of course.
But the jeopardy contestants didn't know Caitlin Clark either. You cant judge these people on their sports knowledge. They are never good at that category. They don't care for sports. Too violent.

Facey is one of those guys whose impact was effected by adopting the sport relatively late .
If he was introduced to the sport younger he possibly could have had an NBA career.
Hopefully his influence will enhance the trajectory of some young Jamaican’s career.
