I have to admit I almost jumped out of the stands on the first one. The fan next to me in the previous 2 games & I had been discussing her contributions sans 3 pt shooting. We had convinced ourselves she was still vital without the scoring threat. So what does that make her now?

"daggers" Muffet called them. Although it was pretty funny she referred to "the one after the travel" for the first one. I agreed, I tweeted at the time Faris gets away with travel, nails a huge 3.

Kelly will be on Thursdays podcast on Hoopfeed, BTW.

Replay shows it wasn't a travel because she never had possession.

Really? It was right in front of me, but she was shooting away so I only saw her back.

She bobbled the pass and shot on control. They even discussed the bobble on the tv coverage.

Muffett's description of Kelly's 3's as "daggers" was spot on. It's so hard to know about any scoring potential from her. Shooting is all about confidence. KML and Bria have it...they're always at least slightly shocked when they don't go in. In Kelly's case, one never gets the impression that she expects 'em to fall. If she emerges from this with more confidence, and can reliably contribute a bit more in that department, well, that, combined with all of her other contributions (about which there is NO argument) would be huge!

I hope we aren't going from "what a great surprise with these wonderfully unexpected three point shots" to now Kelly emerging as our new secret weapon. To me this was somewhat similar to Taliek Brown's 30 foot three point shot in the waning seconds of the shot clock late in the nail biter win we had in the Men's Big East Championship some years ago. Kelly isn't even the offensive threat that Taliek was and everyone knew to play off of him because almost never would he be any kind of threat. No one appreciates the timeliness of Kelly's shots to build momentum at a timely point in the game more than I do but the facts are Kelly is still somewhat of an offensive liability and will continue to be so. Thinking differently is believing in Santa Claus and unfortunately, I'm no longer six years old.

She is not an offensive liability. She just is not a big scorer. She sets great screens, makes great feeds, and hits the offensive boards. Creating great offense isn't just shooting and scoring. Most important thing she should take away from both those threes is to think less and shoot more from instinct. Problem is that Kelly is an intelligent player and is constantly thinking her way through the game.

She doesn't have to take 20 shots a game, she just needs to be a threat to score. A couple of these a game forces defenses not to sag off of her.

A few things: 1. I don't think Kelly traveled on the three...she bobbled the ball did not have control...gained control and drained the three. 2. Those two threes were huge. 3. Anyone, who bases Kelly needs to shut their pie-hole...the kid leaves it all out there... and for extra credit...Kelly got screwed on at least two of the fouls called on her.

She is not a liability, as she does plenty of good things on the floor. However, shooting is not one of them. I thought KF played a nice floor game last night. She passed up ohter shots in the game, correctly passing. Her trey with 3:03 to go was a play run for her. And she drained it.

Kelly not only made those treys, but it was a nifty idea to intercept that in-bounds pass and draw foul on Novosel. Clutch.

Should we play ND yet again, Muffet's game plan will not include a "let Faris shoot" strategy. I would guess that the game plan would also include a lot of respect for the havoc that Bria and and Kaleena can cause. And Tiffany.

Seems to be evolving into their three shooters (Novosel, Diggins, McBride) vs. our three (Hayes, Hartley and KML) with the other players playing important supporting roles.

It is the second time Kelly's shooting has torched ND.
