The players seem to have forgiven whatever role she played - if any was real. They gave their all to her this year.Hooray. A school did something logical.
She actually was an assistant here in Arizona, briefly.
It seems the players like her; the internet was reporting she was involved in covering up her predecessor's misdeeds, but I think the relation with the players is most important.
John Cohen has received much of my ire for the past few years for a variety of reasons. NMP was just one example of his poor decision making but to be fair there really wasn't anything on paper that would have indicated what happened. She obviously deserved the HC job, hope MSST AD make the obvious choice but based upon past history I would not be surprised if our AD made another NMP type decision.
MSSport, there were issues with NMP which average due diligence should have uncovered. The roster that Vic recruited was based upon Vic ball, I.e., physical inside play, points in the paint, tough defense, etc. NMP style was ball movement outside, emphasis three point shots, pretty ball with emphasis on finding openings rather than driving to create shots. The main issue was NMP coaching from the sidelines, I.e., sitting on her chair silently while the team struggled, she was just not the right coach for the players MSST had when she was hired.John Cohen has received much of my ire for the past few years for a variety of reasons. The players clearly support Novak and the fanbase has rallied this season. However, I am hesitant to say he should be given the job. He clearly knows how to build chemistry, but I don't see him getting us back to a top 4 SEC program. I don't expect a Vic like character to come along anytime soon but to me he would again be settling for the easy answer than necessarily going for the best, which really is how Cohen got his job in the first place.
If he gets the job then I support him 100%. I just don't want us to take the easy way out again.
Finley? She absolutely deserve the job and to me should have been COY for the conference.

I agree that her style wasn't the best for the players Vic had assembled. Rightly or wrongly, it was easy to see she was a known name in women's basketball and took a mid major program to some degree of success. I would say most hires aren't made to win with the roster that is returning but with the idea the program could be handled by someone who had success at another. I'm not defending the hire, just that I can understand why he did it. What I don't understand and never will is why Cohen was hired as AD to be over a SEC athletic department when his experience was just as a baseball coach. That was the laziest hire I've ever seen.MSSport, there were issues with NMP which average due diligence should have uncovered. I was pulling for Johnnie Harris like lots of people but I was optimistic NMP would win. I thought we had enough talent to overcome any transition but I figured out after the A&M game last January we were sinking like a stone. I called we would miss the tournament that day.I called that NMP fail at the very onset. Tho maybe I didn't predict we would tank that badly that fast. Her resume screams Chad Morris to me. 3 years at Old Dominion = Chad's 3 years at SMU. NMP didn't make a tournament at ODU. But even if you count that cancelled Covid year as a tournament appearance for ODU, even Chad made a bowl game at SMU. I see very little difference between the 2 coaches' resumes.
