wouldn't he be redundant with DHAM?
Considering they play different positions, no.

Hamilton is somewhat of a SG/SF combo, while Oubre is more of a SF/PF. Plus, Ollie seems intent on playing four perimeter guys at a time.

feel like even with a visit he's headed to Kansas. We're a LONG shot, yes, 3?
You're right on. Kansas is definitely the favorite and he seems to be leaning that way.

last time i checked they both played 3, but i could be wrong. would be a great get either way
DH is more of a SG but he can play both. I do agree with the great get if we can though, I'll take top 20 talent any day.

i have heard him mentioned as a sg, but at 6'8 or taller i don't think he'll see much time at the 2

Magic Johnson played point at 6'9", lol. Although comparing him to an arguably GOAT is a little bit of a stretch to say the least.

Oubre is a player, you take him in a second if you can get him, work out positions later.
Of course you do. It's similar to a pro team drafting mid to late in the first round and taking the best player available and sorting out positions later on. The problem though is convincing the kid that there will be no issue and he will get plenty of time at his natural position. I'm sure Self has pitched Oubre strongly on Wiggins leaving after one year, with Oubre getting to play major minutes right away. I'm also starting to think the glue in Self's rug possesses mystical recruiting powers. On to the next guy at more of a position of need.

All these talks about visits but the only one scheduled is Abu. Perkins always made it seem like it was a no brainer now looks unlikely to even visit. For some reason I will be shocked if Oubre is any different. Seems KU bound is inevitable.

I agree that it's been frustrating to see so many kids say they want to visit and so few actually visit thus far. One thing to keep in mind is that for the non-local kids who will be staying over on official visits, it makes a lot more sense to have them come for a weekend in September when the campus is alive.

These kids visit places during the summer that are close to them or close to the venues they're at with their AAU teams......not many in New England so tough to get these visits with their heavy schedules. Should be better after school starts........may lose some in the meantime but that's okay the staff will get their share!

Not trying to be fatalistic here but we have very little chance of getting Oubre.

My personal opinion is that we have spent a huge amount of time on and swung for the fences on some really big time players and players who have blown up this summer and we will most likely not get them (DHAM being an obvious exception but we got him really early) and we could have quite some time ago spent more time focusing on the NE guys who are really really good, like PC has done.
The NE guys Okonoboh, Chuckwu, Terrell, Abu, Joseph etc would be more realistic for us. The way things are looking , I personally dont think that we will get ANY of these guys. PC looks likely for several of them and perhaps Indiana or Florida for 1 or 2 of them.

I am happy with DHAM and Purvis and think we will likely get Robinson if we get him on campus soon and will get a PG (likely NOT one of our 2 main targets), but size is lacking. We will probably get some much lower rated project at the 4 or 5 (like we have done recently) and hope they pan out. We really missed the boat on Chukwu especially but also on Abu and Okonoboh.

By the way, this is me forecasting what I think will happen over the next 5-6 weeks.

The hell with New England. If we haul in Snider and Robinson I'd be doing cartweels.

How did "we" miss the boat on Abu when KO watched him more than any other player during the live recruiting periods? As far as Joseph, I would've love to get him but he's not really a PG yet, he's alot like Purvis and Purvis is better imo. Okonoboh, not happening and wasn't going to happen because of how AO's career ended.

You are insane. We are top 8 with McLaughlin, getting an official from Snider, Top 3 for Perkins (he still may visit), we are top 4 with Abu, Top 3 with Chukwu, we were top 10 with Joseph, we got Rodney so we stopped recruiting Terrell, we are still in the mix with Okonoboh. We are top 5 with Devin Robinson and he has said he 'definitely' wants to visit. We are top 10 with Larrier and top 8 with Oubre.

Ollie has been recruiting Abu since early on and saw him play 11 times in July. He was early on Devin Robinson. He was in early on McLaughlin. He was in early on Chukwu, he is early on Dorsey/Rabb/Zimmerman/Malachi Richardson/Isaiah Briscoe etc.

HE HAS BEEN DOING THIS ALL WITH RECRUITING RESTRICTIONS FROM THE NCAA.

So no, he should not give up Southern Cali, Maryland, Georgia, Virginia, New York Metro, etc just to focus on New England when he's already holding his own there. If he did that he would be unfit to coach Uconn

Good points. Regarding Abu, it just seems like he is much closer to PC than UCONN. How many times has he been to PC on various visits and pop-ins? Its been a lot. The kid has barely said 2 things about UCONN (or some it seems in compariuson to UCONN). I think that we could have been on him much earlier than just when the summer eval period started. Just really seems lioke we are swimming upstream on him and P. Chuckwu.

Again, its just my interpreation in reading the tea leaves. I hope to heck I am wrong on this and I'd be ecstatic if I windf up being 100% wron on this. However, my fear is that I'm not wrong on this.
