Lady Vols were eliminated from the NCAA tournament earlier than most expected last season but Coach Harper still seems to have her team trending in a positive direction.

Specifically regarding Harper. Did she even reach the middle of her initial contract? If not, what's the rush? It's not as if she is in high demand. I think she has stopped the overall decline in the program, but, I personally, and if the AD, for financial reasons, would have waited until recruiting was CONSISTENTLY BETTER...and that takes more than a couple of years. Hiring recruiters with better reps...isn't consistency. It's a better hire until the program consistently competes for elite recruits. I said elite because...this is Tennessee. I also keep wondering what's the deal with Jordan Horston. Watched her in the FIBA games with Azzi, Paige, Hailey Jones...and Horston made the game look EASY on BOTH ends of the floor. Shows up to Tennessee and I can't believe it's the same player.

To better enjoy the Paige/Azzi show throughout the entire gig

It must be nice to have a lot of money. They made Rick Barnes one of the highest paid coaches in college basketball. They made their baseball coach the highest paid coach in college baseball at $1.5 Million per year. I'm assuming Kellie Harper received a raise as well.

Not to put something OT in the thread, but reading of the other raises prompted me to look up and see that Ralph Weekly has retired as co-head coach of Softball; his wife also got a raise as the head coach.

He is a bit older than her I think, so I certainly wish him well.

Yes he did retire. He's in his 70's.
