The smart money says that the ESPN TV ratings for the UConn game(s) in Indy will be higher than ever.

Should we thank Dan? Geno? or Stewie et al.?

In 2005 with the Patriots having just won their 3rd Superbowl in 4 years Shaunghnessy was falling all over them with his column titled "DYNASTY" http://archive.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2005/02/07/dynasty_boston_globe/?page=2

Indeed I have searched in vain for any time he criticized a male athlete or team for being too good. Can you find one?

He played right into Geno's hands with his twit tweet about a sport he does not follow. He also has since admitted he simply does not like to watch and cannot see the appeal of basketball as the women play it, thereby dumping on the opinion of the ultimate basketball legend/icon John Wooden. So, Dan, go march in your own parade and stay off the sidelines and Twitter about ours.

Some questions that should be answered.

1. Is fan interest good or bad for the sport?
2. Are ratings a reasonable proxy for fan interest?
3. Is ESPN interested in ratings?
4. Is ESPN rooting for or against UConn to make the championship game?

My bet would be that the money people at ESPN are praying that UConn defeats Oregon State.

He suggested Big Papi was still taking PEDs a few years back and caused a similar commotion.
