I like keeping tabs on former UConn players to see how they're doing in their new spots. Here's how it looks through January
Isaiah Abraham - Georgetown. 19.5 MPG, 6.0 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 0.7 APG shooting 44.9% FG, 39.6% 3P, 66.7% FT
Isaiah Abraham - Georgetown. 19.5 MPG, 6.0 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 0.7 APG shooting 44.9% FG, 39.6% 3P, 66.7% FT
- Interesting rotation in DC as Abraham has started all 21 games he's played, but is 6th on the team in minutes per game
- Career high 17 against Coppin St in late December, BE high is 13 points against Seton Hall a few weeks ago
- Has hit a cold stretch from three (0-7 in his last 3 games), but was on fire before that (15-22 in the 7 games prior)
- I'm sure Cooley will try to clean house next year to go all in on winning, but Abraham seems like a player he should prioritize keeping
- Certainly has a green light, but the results are ugly. Darius has strung together bad games much more often than he's strung together good games
- B10 play has been rough. 1-6 in the conference opener against Iowa, 3-10 vs Michigan, 3-15 vs Oregon, 5-15 vs UCLA, 4-14 vs Illinois, 2-6 vs MSU
- A season to forget for Maryland in general. If Darius wants to keep his starting spot as UMD retools next year, he needs to show that he can either get his efficiency under control or significantly improve his playmaking (1.6 AST / 1.9 TO)
- Pretty steady in BE play. CFJ will typically get somewhere around high single digits in points, a few rebounds, a few assists
- Had a rough game against UConn (scoreless and 3 fouls in 15 minutes) before getting injured
- Is spending his senior season as a role player on a terrible team. Not great, and I'm sure if he could re-do the last few years he would
- Death, taxes, Aidan Mahaney putting up 14 points a game at the mid major level
- Has 4 games of 20+ points this season, with 1 of those games being 30. Has certainly had some questionable games (1-6 against Cal St Bakersfield, 1-13 against Cal St Northridge, 1-12 against Utah Valley). But overall he is enjoying career highs in FG% and 3P%
- Big Aidan Mahaney fan over here. UCSB is riding a 6 game win streak and I hope we can see them take the Big West title so we can see him in March
- Ahmad has started to get some consistent minutes after riding the bench earlier this year. Logged double digit minutes in 5 of 8 Jan games, and had 9 minutes in 2 of the other 3
- In Jan he had 14 points against Duquesne and 14 points against URI. Can be a bit inconsistent (0-fers in 3 of the remaining 6 games) but overall it looks like Nowell is finding a groove
- It looks like Apostolos' leash is getting tighter. After only getting 9 minutes vs GW and 1 minute vs VCU, you'd think he finally got back in good graces after an efficient 12 minute/7 point game against Davidson
- But......those 12 minutes were all second half garbage time minutes as Richmond got blown out 79-54
- Richmond is not having a good year as they are 13-10 and 12th in the A10. Apostolos got 26.5 minutes per game for them last year, down to 16.2 and dropping this year. Sad to see
- Cash App has gotten some more minutes in January, but hasn't done much with it. 8 and 9 minutes in his last 2 games but just picks up a few rebounds and didn't even take a shot
- High Point is actually having a really good year (20-4, #1 in the Big South, won 12 of their last 13) so I wouldn't expect a major strategy change in the rotation. Hoping he can get some more minutes in blowout wins soon
