I may get killed for posting this but I am hoping that UConn keeps everything (or as much as possible) the same for next year. Please hear me out.

First I was not jumping for joy when PP was hired and brought his sidekick GDL along. But I tried to look at the positives. Some of them being the ties to Northeast FB, knowing the CT HS coaches, his NFL experience and also that he would probably not be looking to leave UConn at the next best opportunity.

Unfortunately after 2 years, I do not see PP and GDL being the answer hear at UConn. I am not a FB expert, but I have watched college and the NFL my whole life ( I am 53) and many of the on field decisions ( clock management, play calling etc) are dumbfounding. My biggest complaint is that both of these guys bring no juice to the program. We need some excitement in this program to spark fan interest . They are big time boring. I find myself yearning for a RE press conference, and I thought he was horrible with the media.

So this is what I am afraid of. UConn makes a few coaching changes ( including getting rid of GDL), and next year we make a small improvement or at minimum we are not horrible. I believe WM will then keep PP for at least another year, based on the fact the new staff has shown progress.

So I say this. Leave everything alone. Maybe I and many people on this board are incorrect with our thoughts about PP and GDL. Maybe next year with another year of their system under the players belt it all comes together. Also most players will have been recruited by this staff ( so that cant be an excuse anymore).

I (and everyone on this board) want UConn FB to have a great year next season. I hope PP and GDL pull it off.

If it is a dumpster fire. Then we have no excuse to start searching for a new staff.

Killing would be cruel and unusual punishment for this post. A year's solitary confinement seems more appropriate. It would protect you from the rest of us who might seek revenge for having to watch a GDL offense for another year.

As much as most will condemn you for this, if we truly want both guys gone, which is in the best interest of the program, then they need to stay for next season. As much as I was hoping that the GDL being gone report was true, I did have that thought that if a new guy came in and actually designed a scheme around the personnel then the chance of PP going as well would be reduced.

I happen to be a Browns fan as well, (I know, don't start!) and every couple seasons we clean house, new staff - new ways, by the time it looks like we may turn a corner, new guys come in and revamp and we go back to square one. The next guy can't be a "new scheme" guy unless he has a reputation for making that new scheme blend to the talent of the team and gradually going to his scheme with his players.

I think to be fair give them another year at the helm. We may be surprised.

ucjoet,

What you've just wrote ... is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent statement were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having read it. I award you no likes, and may God have mercy on your soul...

The day can't come soon enough when these two clowns get the hell out of town. Each for their own reasons.

GDL, I really can't blame him for being himself. Everyone knows that he is gonna hold on for dear life and they are going have to drag him out kicking and screaming . But PP is another matter. He's just a bad Head football coach and I understand why he got ran out of town in Syracuse and Miami, and why another head coaching opportunity didn't open him til uconn and why he should never be a head coach again. The man is completely incapable of making adjustments and he manages his staff based upon friendships and personal priorities.

He hands over complete control of the offense to GDL no questions asked. It was a bad hire from day one and and I don't know where the hell the idea that GDL was a good offensive coordinator came from. (Can somebody please fill me in on this point. ) Cause the results speak for themselves.

Let me state why time will not improve performance. The first season's offensive results were horrible, which can be expected sometimes but look at how PP handles the situation. He simply refuses to make adjustments to his staff or systems to improve deficiencies. In fact his solution is to ignore the problem and double down. The only person PP has re-assigned based on performance is foley and we know how that worked out. So as a logical consequence the team will continue to malfunction in year 3 cause its leadership is jacked up. GDL will continue to coach when all rational thought would say that he should be fired. However, PP just likes to be stubborn and he's gonna force GDL down the throats of the uconn fan base no matter what cause.

JaYnYcE, You were not direct enough. Not sure if you agreed with me or not. Next time just tell me how you feel.

He dropped one of the best quotes from Billy Madison- I'm sure it wasn't personal.

While you admittedly put yourself in danger with your post - it's also the most likely scenario that we will be facing, for better or worse.

I don't know why this phenomenon is happening, but people are posting about what decision should be made.....after it has already been made. Months ago.

My concern is that will a little luck (one dropped pass by Temple, a single play vs. USF) this year could be a bowl and similarly next year Uconn could go 6-6 or 7-5 in spite of the HC/OC. Then what?

And I think UConn is being "too fair" allowing them access to the oxygen in the air. These two guys are destroying this program. I'll concede to them only this. It was a mistake (therefore unfair to both men) to have brought them into the program in the first place. Someone with some vision should have seen that they both were too old, too mediocre, to lacking in energy and both suffering from the game having passed them by. So the BAD was the hire. But now since they've shown nothing (and far worse) in two years, they really needed to resign (take the higher road guys) but they haven't. Fire PP & GDL today - and let them live in peace in their retirement years.
