KO will teach him a lot but starting with this kind of size and strength is a plus.

Scouting report? He talked to his mother and aau coach and now he is the next Jeff Adrien. Let's be real it's not like his mother or coach are going to say anything negative. Let's see the kid play before we start hyping him to be the next great. And yes he was injured over the summer but what about the previous two summers? Paul white was hurt this summer but he was still ranked. It baffles me how we hype these kids up without even seeing them just because his mom said he is great.

I like the fact that he is humble- that fits well w/ Kevin. I think the back issue in the summer may have been a bummer for him, but a boon for us, and the other fact that Marquette was in the mix really adds to this for me. They're just good at ferreting out talent. We got Nolan away from Marquette, now Lubin. Contrary to "settling", we got our man. This is a great pick up. Congrats to Kevin and Rickie. They did their homework.

Yes - you have identified the big problem with the Boneyard. We are just so relentlessly positive about everything.

I've known and coached Rakim since the 6th grade. He was involved in a very intense weight lifting program at Gadsden City High School. I can assure you he has been lifting for 4 years. I can also assure you that UCONN is getting a GREAT PLAYER!

Thank you Coach. Appreciate the first hand feedback. He is an unknown commodity to most of us so don't let any negative comments on here deter you. We trust Coach Ollie's eye for talent and I am sure he is a better talent evaluator than most on here.

Looking forward to having Rubin in the fold and watching him develop over the next few years. Thank you again for your feedback.

I can assure you Coach Ollie is a better talent evaluator than all on this forum. Anyone who thinks otherwise is full of themselves.

We needed a big strong PF and we got one. All he needs to do is block out, rebound, play D and make the put backs. We have plenty of scorers. If we get more it is a bonus and it sounds like this kid has some scoring ability from 17" in according to his coach. Welcome Rakim!

You know what baffles me is how people like you care about how excited fans get about a recruit. Deep down inside mostly everyone here knows he is somewhat of an unknown. They also know he was projected on one site in the Top 50 at one point in his HS career so there is something there. His coach for this year seems to have a nice background having met KO and others by going to camps and such so he may know a little about basketball. No matter the kid will have to work his tail off to get PT and improve at UConn but the fact is HE WANTS TO COME HERE and be a Husky. If that doesn't excite you at all as a fan then maybe you need to skip these threads?

Glad to have him. Agree his personality seems a fit with Coach Ollie. This team is depserate for some muscle; big strong inside players gave us a lot of trouble last year. DeAndre really cannot play that role and just gets run over. None of us know how good he is or can be, but he wants to come and seems to fit a glaring need. Now to lock down a PG for 2014, and the class will be complete.

I sure hope he can score from 17"!

Now, if he can score from 17', that would be great.
