"These days, basketball isn’t only what continues to connect father and daughter; it’s one of the only things Willi remembers. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease 18 months ago, and while his long-term memory is still fairly good, his short-term memory and ability to perform basic functions is not.
The emotional toll of watching her father’s health deteriorate, and becoming a caregiver for him, has been profound. But in the process, Kara has found courage in using her voice to advocate for increased Alzheimer’s awareness, research, and funding."
