With one game to go, here are the milestone updates for Karaban.

FG (665, t-5th) - Karaban may have feasted at the line yesterday, but he only made 1 fg, which brought him into a tie with Wes Białosuknia. If he can get 1 during the championship, he moves into sole 5th place.

DRB (507, 9th) - Now Karaban is just 4 behind Sticks (511) for 8th. WIth a good game on the defensive boards in the championship, he can get it.

Tournament Points (201, 3rd) - Above Karaban is Ben Gordon (216) for 2nd. With a good game, he can pass him. Above that is Rip with (235). If Karaban gets 35 points, I am guessing we are champs.

Final Fours (3, 1st) - I believe this puts Karaban tied for 5th all time in Final Fours for all of basketball. Obviously #1 all time for UConn.

Championship Appearances (2, t-1st) - Karaban is currently tied with Tristen Newton, Hassan Diarra, Andrew Hurley, Samson Johnson, Donovan Clingan, Apostolos Roumoglou, Andre Johnson, Shabazz Napier, Niels Giffey, and Tyler Olander. At tip off, Karaban moves into first all time.

Championships (2, t-1st) - If Karaban can seal the deal, he will do something that no player has done outside of UCLA, and no one has done since the tournament expanded.

The capstone didn't quite go as we had hoped, but Karaban had one absolute hell of a career at UConn. He played like a champion for 4 years and even more so last night.

THE FINAL KARABAN UPDATE.

Karaban ends his career with

Games (151, 1st) - This season, Karaban became the all time games leader at UConn, passing Shabazz (143)

Games Started (150, 1st) - Another record Karaban set this season, passing Voskuhl (135).

Minutes (4906, 1st) - Karaban set this one too this season after passing Shabazz (4614).

FG (670, 5th) - Karaban passed Wes Bialosuknia (665) in the championship game.

3PFG (292, 1st) - Karaban is the all time range king. He passed Rashad Anderson (276).

Team Wins (126, 1st) - Karaban's teams won an average of 31.5 games a season. It was truly the greatest stretch in UConn history. He passed teammate Samson Johnson (115).

Wins Played (123, 1st) - Even crazier is that Karaban was a workhorse, having played in all but 3 of those wins. He passed Ricky Moore (112). I really don't see either of these being broken.

Points (1880, 6th) - Karaban ended up moving up into 6th place in points this season, settling just behind Ray Allen (1922).

DRB (515, 8th) - Karaban's 8 DRBs yesterday put him above Stanley Robinson (511) for 8th place all time in UConn history.

DWS (8.2, 8th) - Advanced stats put Karaban's contribution at 8th all time.

OWS (13.2, 1st) - Karaban ended the season atop the Offensive Win Shares list as the most prolific offensive player in UConn history. He passed Shabazz (12.8)

WS (21.4, 2nd) - Karaban moved to just behind Emeka Okafor (22.3) in all time Win Shares this season.

Now for some Tournament Stats

Tournament Appearances (4, t-1st) - Tied with a bunch of guys.

Tournament Games (20, 1st) - He is the all time leader in tournament games, passing Denham Brown, Hilton Armstrong, Rashad Anderson, and Samson Johnson (16).

Tournament Wins (18) - Obviously also going to be first in this. He passed Samson Johnson, Hassan Diarra, Shabazz Napier, Niels Giffey, and Tyler Olander (13).

Tournament Points (227, 2nd) - Karaban had a hell of a tournament and passed Ben Gordon (216) yesterday. Only Rip Hamilton is above him (235).

R32 Appearances (4, t-1st) - Karaban tied Denham Brown, Hilton Armstrong, and Rashad Anderson as the only Huskies to make it to the round of 32 every year. Karaban has no idea what 1 and done means.

Sweet 16s (3, t-1st) - Karaban tied for 1st with Denham Brown, Hilton Armstrong, Rashad Anderson, Taliek Brown, Shamon Tooles, Ben Gordon, Emeka Okafor (also including Ricky Moore, Rashamel Jones, Travis Knight, Rudy Johnson, Eric Hayward, Doron Sheffer, Ray Allen, and Kirk King if you ignore the Vacated 96 season).

Elite 8s (3, 1st) - Karaban became the only Husky to make 3 Elite 8s.

Final Fours (3, 1st) - And thus obviously the only to make 3 Final Fours (tied for 7th in all of basketball).

Championship Appearances (3, 1st) - And thus obviously the only one to make 3 Championships. This is tied for the most Finals appearances in all of college basketball.

Championships (2, t-1st) - In my extreme greed, I can say sadly, he only ends up tied for 1st all time with Tristen Newton, Hassan Diarra, Andrew Hurley, Samson Johnson, Donovan Clingan, Apostolos Roumoglou, Andre Johnson, Shabazz Napier, Niels Giffey, and Tyler Olander. 3 Would have been unbelievable, but 2 was amazing. Like Olander, he ends with more championship than Syracuse.

Rate Stats and Bonus Stuff:

Box +/- (8.3, 5th) - Fun fact, Reed was 2nd all time (11.5). The entire list is almost completely teammates of Karaban, which makes sense.

Effective FG% (.5698, 3rd) - Karaban is just barely behind Sanogo (.5705). Had Karaban turned 1 missed two pointer into a made shot, he would have passed Sanogo.

3PFGA (780, 1st) - Yes the 3 point king also rightly took the most 3 pointers. He passed Vital (640).

FGA (1432, 8th) - He passed El-Amin this season (1395) and moved into 8th.

Free Throws (248, UR) - My ethical king ended up nowhere near the top 10.

Offensive Box +/- (5.3, 4th) - I am not even really sure what this stat means, but he ended up in 4th, which is good.

True Shooting % (.598, 1st) - The greatest shooter in UConn history ended his career as the highest True Shooter in UConn history, just above another great, Ray Allen (.594).

What a career from the Cap.

Offensive Box +/- (5.3, 4th) - I am not even really sure what this stat means, but he ended up in 4th, which is good.
It's a boxscore-based metric, and the goal is to estimate how many points a player contributes to their team's scoring margin per 100 possessions. High efficiency (as seen in his True Shooting %) means you'll likely have a high box +/-.

My guess is that the even more advanced stuff – like Real Plus-Minus or Adjusted Plus-Minus – likes AK even more, since those metrics actually aim to measure off-ball gravity and overall offensive efficiency in a way that's not captured in simple boxscores. And Alex is an excellent screener and a god-tier cutter, both of which create space for himself and for his teammates.

Really like seeing the stat compilations, thank you @Teddie1056 .

We'll miss Alex and it'll be interesting to see how our offense is able to adjust to all the things that he did out there.

.-.
Hoping that next year we get to have a Solo Ball Milestone Watch.

He will have a real shot at nearing AK levels with:
  • Games - 113
  • Team Wins - 95
  • Wins Played - 93
  • Sweet 16s and beyond - 2
It'd be really cool if he gave us a solid 27 points a game for the all time UConn points lead.
